The reef is generally seen as a beautiful underwater garden, seems mostly peaceful until a massive black creature emerges and charges after you with its gaping maw with hundreds of teeth. That creature is the Black Death an eel like creature that only inhabits most reefs in the southern oceans. They are also known as Leech Eels, Giant Caecilians or Xenomorph Eels. They hide away in caverns and other narrow tunnels until suitably sized prey entires their range. They don’t have eyes and rely on vibrations and smell. They either strike with a blink of an eye or actively chase depending on how close the prey is. They don’t go too far from their territory so if you’re quick enough they will lose interest. They prefer medium to large prey such as humans, marine Beardrags, aquatic skinks, juvenile black deaths etc; as opposed to small fish and other small critters.
