Step 4: Gently, carefully, and ever so delicately…. LEAP UP AND POUNCE-SNUGGLE-FLOPIFY THE HECK OUT OF 'EM!!!
(optional) Step 5: Wrap arms around tightly to prevent escape
(optional) Step 6: Subject cat to no less than 5 hours of aggressive snug-wiggles and loud mows

You forgot Step 7 (not optional)!: Always watch your back! It could be that another big cat has noticed this and, due to the distraction, is now trying to do the same to the previous pouncer!
