Since I've been working on a Quest for Camelot fanart, a wild fan-character appeared! Sometimes it takes a while to develop OCs, other times, they practically mob you XD
She's a reclusive, mad witch of the Forbidden Forest, found near large areas of water. She was once an apprentice of Merlin himself, and regarded him highly as a father figure as well as her master. However, his devotion to a non-magical (Arthur) made her resentful of the kingdom and Arthur's circle of Knights. Not because of his divided affection, but because she felt that Merlin's abilities were wasted on serving him.
During her descent into madness, she stole and read his forbidden manuscripts that delved into the darker side of magic before being cast out of the kingdom. As the years passed she became a master of Necromancy, and can make people at close range hallucinate whatever she wants. Physically, she's not very strong and relies on her magic.

Oh definitely, he does responsibilty and knows he needs to put it right when the time comes. While she causes no immediate problems being hidden away for so long, there's no point chasing after a ghost. He should have seen the signs of her madness earlier, but possibly didn't want to believe it because of his emotinal attachment to her. Outwardly to Arthur and the Knights, she was very good at hiding her resentment. The idea I had was that the manuscripts would have been protected by enchantments, lock & key etc. While she exhibited changes in her personality, her bitterness eventually came to boiling point and she no longer respected those types of boundries, flat out stole them, and wrecked the place on the way out XD I'm sure they'll meet again.
