"I was born into this world same as you. Emperor, Jarl, Karl, freeman, title is nothing if we all die the same. I may be of noble blood but I lived most of my life as one of you, my common people. I did not take this role for money or power, but because it is my duty to care for you as my own children. So long as my heart still beats I shall work for you, fight for you, and in the end I shall die for you. So follow me, all people of the Empire, for it is only together as one family can we survive the darkness. So long as I have you behind me, I shall never yield to the darkness. As God as my witness, I will serve you as you serve me until I draw my last breath."
"Father Winter", "The Ice Emperor", "The King of the North", Alexander goes by many titles but to those who take the time to talk to them they find a man full of passion and dedication to his people. Be it leading a massive army in war, or helping dung collector shovel waste into a cart, he will and has done every job imaginable out of a desire to show he does not consider himself different from any commoner. This is largely due to Alexander having grown up as one, his parents driven from their lands by his greedy uncle who usurped their place and sent them on the run. But he never forgot the story his parents told him, nor did he ever forgive. For 18 long years he and his family moved from city to city, village to village, and he had a chance to experience and feel the suffering of the common folk firsthand at the hand of bandits, undead armies, monsters from the forest, or armies of rival nobles warring over petty insults and disputes.
It was during his 12-15th years that he showed he was a natural born leader able to inspire those around him to defend what was theirs and showed a maternal love and care for his countrymen. Noble or freeman, righteous or evil, he helped all he came across out of a love for his people. He was also a skilled warrior, once single handily slaying a massive frost bear as large as a townhouse. Another time he protected a village by slaying nearly 50 well armed and armored bandits before the villages finally got the courage to take up arms and delivered a finishing blow. By the time he reached his 18th year he had not only befriended the nobility within his home state of Yazka, but won the support of the people. After a meeting with the nobles one night it was agreed upon that Alexander would finally take his rightful place as ruler of Yazka back from his uncle. Arriving as Yazka, the capital of the Empire, he challenged his Uncle to single combat
It was a hard fight, and he very nearly lost his life. But right as he was on his knees and about to die to his Uncle's axe the young man began glowing, a divine light shining down on him from the clouds. With a mighty roar he grabbed his Uncle's dagger and drove it through his spinal cord and into the brain, killing the usurper instantly. With news of this astonishing victory not only did he become the ruler of Yazka, but by his 21st year he was elected Emperor of the Yazie. This came as a surprise but upon digging into the reasons for his election (despite the fact he didnt even run for it) he learned the news of his seemingly divine support as well as the kindness and love for his people spread far and wide over the years. He was widely regarded by nobles and commoners alike as a true embodiment of all the positive values they held dear, and thus desired him to lead. He proved to be a good leader too. He treated the Warlords (rules of the provinces) as brothers and sisters and the common folk as his children. He instituted public works, distributed funds to the poor, expanded and repaired existing road and rail networks, and personally lead campaigns that cleansed huge swaths of land from the Undead hordes and wandering bandit armies alike.
Now 25, he is in his 4th year as Emperor for life. With the undying loyalty of the people and the support of most of the nobility (those who fear for their own power dont like him, but bow to him because its better than risking his wrath) he seeks to expand the Empire's lands further. His people have been confined to the far north for far to long, and if his people are to continue to survive they need to explore and find new lands. Whatever news exploration brings, be it news of wonderful discovery or terrible danger, one thing remains certain: the King of the North will ensure the people survive
The Empire Shall Survive, no matter the cost
