Luke watches nick play with MindFlex (an EEG based biofeedback toy. it has a fan that you can move that levitates a foam ball around a player created obstacle course. the fan is powered by frontal lobe activity, specifically the activity patterns associated with focused attention and concentration.) nick explains the game to luke, and luke becomes interested and wants to try. lukes level of concentration and higher brain activity is so intense that it blows out the fan motor, destroying the game/toy and causing a small electrical fire. nick panics and tells luke to shut it off. (at this point, i was experimenting with the extent of lukes genius and just how lukes over active and overpowered brain could cause trouble for himself and others.)
