Nooo! I put the fixed line on the color layer! Oh no! I colored on the shading layer! What layer am I on? Is this just a blank layer? WTF?
I've honestly started using more and more layers. I'll have lower legs on one layer, upper legs on another, torso on its own layer, arms, head, clothing, etc. Maybe I've gone too far.

One method I seen to counter it - least for the sketching that I've seen - is to have each layer assigned their own color. Even when using gray for it, it'll still show up as the respective layer's color, so that way you could tell you're on the wrong layer when the differing sketch lines start to clash.
