MK9 Nitro Track Concept - ''Bowser's Castle Ruins''
After I watched some CT Tournaments from YouTuber TWD98, a professional competitive Mario Kart Wii player, I decided to pick up the pace again and went and designed this daunting thrill of a course. I named it ''Bowser's Castle Ruins''. Quite the standard name, could've come up with something better, but since I still like the name, I'm sticking with it. Bowser's Castle is one of the most famous locations in gaming, and this goes for both the platforming levels in traditional Mario games, AND the countless wild and twisting race tracks King Koopa has in store for the famous plumber and his colorful friends!
👿 This track has the racers start at a straightaway and immediately cross a rickety bridge with Lava Geysers on either side, before making a slanted turn to the left. Next, the racers drive counter-clockwise down a spiral, set inside a still standing tower. The straightaway that follows sees the racers zoom across a broken tower that has fallen into the lava below, before crossing a second bridge surrounded by more Lava Geysers. Watch out, as this bridge too has some parts missing on the left! Following the second bridge, the racers enter a wide hallway with high but small windows on either side of the dark chamber. A 90* turn follows, with the main hallway featuring an old, red carpet, and Bowser Statues breathing fire, although the racers are not in danger of getting hit by the fire. A couple more 90* turns have to be taken, before entering a second spiral which takes the drivers up a level and onto a stone road with no guardrails, and pieces of stone have fallen off. Before entering the top of the final tower, first the racers have to take a dip into the lava for a short ''Underwater Section''. Once this part is over, a final 90* turn follows, leading the racers back to the starting line. This race has the traditional three laps.
-- It was really fun to create, and I think the different shades of orange really make the castle parts stand out. Plus, I really like the way the broken tower turned out, with the lava glowing around it. The Lava Geysers I made using the filling tool, pressing the button on my mouse just long enough to make it clearly visible, yet still fit with the deep oranges and yellows of the lava surrounding the ruins. I thought a little green would fit as well, considering Bowser's always had some dark green featured in his castles ever since Super Mario World came out.
