His competition, a gang of thugs hired by a very wealthy collector, was hot on his tail when they realized their prize had been pilfered. Though he gave them a run for their money, ultimately Tolin found himself backed into a corner with no way out. On an impulse, he opened the enchanted vase that he’d taken from the ancient shrine, a hushed plea for a blessing and forgiveness rushing past his lips.

He was surprisingly unfazed as his human clothing tore to shreds, making room for his new draconic body and elegant wings. The ruffians looked onward in fascinated horror as Tolin’s neck and face elongated, gorgeous pearlescent fur spreading over his pale skin, and furry ears flicked experimentally alongside her new curved horns. She flicked her forelock away from her amethyst gaze, a knowing grin splitting her may before her feminine voice growled out,
