This part was incredibly satisfying to draw;
Lately I've been thinking there is something so appealing about a human head on top of a totally animalistic body.
I think I must have also been thinking about a fantasy novel called 'A Spell for Chameleon' that involved a lot of transformations, including a sphinx like this one. I might recommend it, but unfortunately it turned out to be an allegory about the so-called "evils" of race-mixing. Ugh.

Gosh I couldn't agree more... sphinxes of any sort, but particularly felines, are incredibly appealing. I'm not sure I could say precisely why, but the juxtaposition of human features atop a feral form just brings out the best of both! Love the way you draw it too <3
Also is that true about Xanth?? I know it's been like 15 years since I last read it, maybe I was too young to pick up on it... or too distracted by the transformations to notice. O.o
