V-Fox: I didn't know the first Europeans to visit us were the Portuguese.
Chuong: I was surprised to learn that too. I would've been speaking Portuguese instead of French as a secondary language if they did colonize us but Portugal didn't have the resources so they can't colonize us. Even if they managed to do so, it would be very short-lived, hence they decided to let the French have at it against us. Spain already had The Philippines and that alone cost them a lot of resources due to extreme resistance. Britain had Myanmar and other places where they're already facing resistance and even they did not want to touch our country. So in the end, no other European empire but the French would want to bother with us.
Zax: America did briefly have an empire of their own after the Spanish-American War but eventually decided that many of the lands we once controlled should be returned back to their owners. The Philippines was American territory, so after improving their country, we handed that country back. Okinawa was American territory, but we eventually returned it back to Japan. Puerto Rico is American territory, but are allowed autonomy where Spanish is their official language but English as their second but ruled under us. Yes Leo the Patriotic Lion does represent Puerto Rico, Guam, and other American territories and they do look up to him.
Juno: Brazil was a very successful Portuguese colony and the resources there was worth their effort. Not to mention, the Spanish and Portuguese had to have the Pope act as an arbitrator to solve their dispute over the lands in South America so Spain and Portugal don't have any conflicts with each other.

Leo: There's arguments both ways. We gave Cuba her independence because we thought we were doing the right thing after we liberated them from the invaders.
Cripto: My neighbors think that was one of the dumbest things we as a nation ever did. If we had kept it, we wouldn't have had Fidel Castro.
Leo: And I do represent those people as well.
