Ahhh…
‘This is the life…’
And Ming couldn’t ask for a better one…and why would he? He has everything he needs. A large fluffy pillow that makes a warm bed, a room filled with boxes, plenty of food not too far from his home…heck, there is even a whole supply of food on the shelf! (Assuming he can figure out how to open them, these containers are so inconvenient for his tiny paws!)
Not to mention there is a cool club not too far from here, all he has to do is take a trip through the vents and corridors, then voila! He is there!
It is a paradise any cat can ask for! A place all to himself? What could be better than that? No noise…no ruckus…just a nice large room allll to himself…nothing but peace and quiet…
*Bang bang bang*
‘Aauugghh…what now…?’ The cat groans, cracking an eye open to investigate.
Chances are, some latex is causing an annoying racket just because someone stole their oranges. Looking up from his pillow, he can very well see that there is something behind that door.
‘What’s is his deal? This is MY room!’
Ming is NOT in the mood to deal with this nonsense right now. All he wanted was some peace and quiet but noo…this dang latex just has to…show up and bang on the door for no reason! What does he want?
Just before Ming could form a link with this pesky latex, it moves into view and…he can’t believe his eyes…
…is that…
‘A NEW HUMAN?!’
Now, THIS is a pleasant surprise! No human ever walked through his home without following a black pup escort! Those pesky latexes always bully white latexes whenever they get close to that one human! It's just not fair! They’re evil!
But now this was puzzling since…there aren’t any pups this time?
There is NO WAY he is going to let an opportunity like THAT walk away! He has no idea what is going on between this human and the black latex, but it's their loss…he on the other hand will gladly take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
Getting up from his pillow he stretches his legs as he starts his hunt for the mythical human. Peeking from behind the box, he sees that the human is at the shelf full of food, wolfing the container foods down greedily before taking a long drink of water. Huh…maybe if he had paws like that human he would be able to open those containers and have some of this food to himself!
Oh, he wants to transfur him… His instincts are screaming at him!
But he restrains himself.
‘Play it cool Ming…first impressions are everything…you have this one chance…better make it count…you got this.’
Keeping his composure, he makes his way to the human as he reaches out to him with his mind…
…
But there is nothing to connect to.
‘Eh? Why can’t I connect??’
This doesn’t make sense! No matter how hard he tries, it’s like he is waving his paw through the air with nothing to grab onto…there is nothing to connect to…nothing…this may be more difficult than he thought.
Well…let’s try getting his attention first.
“Meow?”
This certainly caught the human’s attention, as he turns around to see him. The human looks at him in surprise before saying something…he doesn’t know what, but it sounds positive. Maintaining his approach, Ming brushes himself against the human, his instincts suggesting this approach. This invokes a positive reaction as the human picks him up cradling him in his arms.
*Purr*
The human then reaches out and pets him before giving a few gentle scratches on the neck. He doesn’t know what the human is doing but it’s making him feel relaxed and comfortable in his arms.
Again the human says something but Ming pays it no mind, seeing that the human is taking him along with him somewhere. The human pauses as he sees some kind of object with plenty of pages, he then looks down at him and seems to be talking to him directly…Ming can pick up the asking tone in his voice.
With nothing else to do, he gives the only response he can give.
“Meow.”
This again invokes another positive reaction from the human, reaching down to pet him by the belly…
*Murr*
Never had he realized he needed something in his life until now…these pets the human is giving are amazing! He can’t help but purr and close his eyes as the human continues to pet him…from his belly to the scruff of his neck to the top of his head. He hopes that this amazing luxury will never end…
…
But then it stops…
‘Hmm? Hey, why did you stop??’ Ming demands.
The human shifts his arms, moving him onto one arm and pulling up the other in front of him, pausing as he looks onto his…paw digits, noticing some orange latex clinging to them, probably coming from Ming’s own fur.
Ming doesn’t know what the human is thinking about, but he wants his pets now!
“Meow!”
He calls out, throwing himself onto the human’s chest, ensuring his grip by deforming his limbs slightly as it sticks onto him.
The human starts to panic, pushing him away from his chest as Ming holds on for dear life, his limbs stretching out as the human pushes him.
‘Hey! Stop that! I just want more pets! Why are you trying to push me off??’ he complains, refusing to let go.
The fight continues as he slowly regains his grip on the human, but the human gives one heave that pushes him far enough until-
*Snap*
He loses his grip, flinging backward towards the wall.
*Splat*
…
…
And boy…he did NOT like being splattered.
‘So…that’s how it’s going to be huh? Fine!’ Ming growls, as his goo slides down the wall, reaching the floor to reform.
Unfortunately, the human is already making a run for it.
Quickly reforming back into his Taby cat form, he gives out a battle cry.
“Mrrow!”
‘For that, you are becoming my host…RIGHT NOW!!’
And with that, Ming gives chase…dashing down the box maze as he gets closer and closer to the human. Turn after turn…it all comes down to the final stretch as the human is nearing the door, he will not let his human run away!
With one final mad dash, he speeds up as he takes one mighty leap towards the human… as time seems to slow down…
…
*Splat!*
Ming’s body deforms as he crashes onto the human’s back…
The chase is over…the human has lost.
And Ming will take his rightful reward.
As Ming splats onto the human’s back, the human tumbles and falls to the ground, giving him an opportunity to strike.
Ming’s goo starts to spread across the human’s back, as it settles and holds firm onto the human’s body, forming a layer on the human’s skin. Of course, the human doesn’t like this as he tries to reach out and peel him off.
‘Oh…NO! You are NOT pulling me off! I’m staying!’ Ming grumbles with annoyance.
Not letting the human delay the inevitable, Ming uses his goo to form two tendrils to latch out to the human’s wrists, pushing them down to the floor and sticking there to limit the human’s ability to struggle.
With a better grip on the human’s body, he slowly crawls down the human’s hips, forming a cat-like tail as his goo reaches into the human’s body, connecting the nerves it finds to his tail for better access to the host’s nervous system.
The human continues his pointless struggle, throwing his legs around in hopes to shake him off. Ming doesn’t quite understand why the human is acting in this way, does he not know how transfur works or something?
Continuing the process, the taby makes his way down the human’s legs and reaches down to his feet, wrapping around them and forming the goo into a more…fitting shape…his brand new kitten-like paws!
But he is not done…far from it…
With half of the human’s body under his control, Ming makes his way up the human’s torso, heading towards the very top of the human’s head.
Covering the human’s back with his orange goo, climbing all the way up to his neck…all while the feeling of excitement, joy and anticipation grows stronger within the Taby, at last…he is getting a host! A dream come true! A once in a lifetime experience!
With a bit more control established, the taby commands the human’s body to get onto its knees to make the rest of the transfur go more smoothly. Using the goo on the human’s wrists, Ming wraps his goo around the human’s hands, turning them more into his favorite kitten-like paws before stretching up over his arms, connecting with the torso.
He then stretches goo to reach out from the human’s back and spread onto his chest, coating every single inch until there is nothing left but the color orange. Finally, he coaxes his goo further into the human’s body, allowing himself to develop his soft fur.
‘I’m getting a host…I’m actually getting a host!’ Ming thinks to himself, as his excitement grows.
Adding a few extra details to his new body, the taby changes his fur on the human’s…no…HIS chest into pure white color and on the tip of his tail, with a few dark brown horizontal stripes throughout his cream fur, just like what his old body looked like.
But he is still not finished…
Wanting to finish the transfur sooner, the taby spreads his goo upwards from the human’s neck, from the back of his head dripping down past his face…the goo then reaches out to connect with itself, eager to seal the human’s body within his own…
…
And with one last trace of the human’s skin transfurred…the body is now his.
Adding the final touches to his new body, Ming manipulates the goo on his head, forming the same cream fur with the brown stripes, finishing it off by adding a small snout along with a pair of triangular ears…
And with that, the transformation is complete. Ming now has the human all to himself…his new host.
Opening his eyes, Ming takes in the sights of his brand new body…the fur…the claws…and his tail! Way better than his small body! All of this is…wow…Ming can’t find the words to do this experience justice…it’s just amazing! And he gets to share it with the human! Just wait till he brags about it to his feline latex friends!
‘This…this is the most amazing thing I have ever felt! What do you think human??’
…
‘Human…?’
Trying to call out to the human, he notices that he has fallen into a state of unconsciousness.
‘Human?? Are you serious?? Did you just fall asleep right now?? Come on, wake up!’ Ming communicates in disbelief, trying again to reach out to the human…
…
But he can’t…
He is aware that the human is still there but no matter what he does, he just can’t seem to reach out to him. As if there is nothing there to connect to…nothing! How can he communicate with the human if there is nothing to connect to??
‘Oh well…too bad he is missing this out.’
And sadly so.
Regardless, Ming is still not quite done with this transfur just yet. Concentrating with his goo, he reaches deeper into the human’s body…whether it is through the skin, the nose or the mouth…his goo reaches in to explore this strange but fascinating body.
He goes through the zen-like process of replacing, analyzing, and then putting back all the cells he doesn’t need with instructions to cooperate with his goo for now.
Ming can feel everything…every bone…every nerve…the very organs…from the breathing of the lungs…the complex process of the human’s nerves connecting to his brain…to the human’s gentle beating heart…he wouldn’t know how to explain it…but he can understand where everything should be…as if it were being ingrained into his mind and instincts.
But…something feels wrong…something that is bothering Ming so much…but what is it? He can pick up a sense of…something foreign…something that does not belong in the human’s body. He can feel it.
Sending his goo to investigate, he inspects everything he sees and feels…the bones seem right…they are structured the way they should be…the organs seem to be in working order…the nerves seem to be working despite his inability to reach out to the human, so it likely isn’t that...
‘It must be smaller then.’
He sends his goo to investigate at a finer level, desperately trying to find the source of this itch.
Ming can’t explain it but…it’s like something he is meant to do…something important…and he can’t stop until he finds the source.
He can ‘see’ these tiny organisms travelling throughout the human’s body…perhaps he could find something there? He watches the cells…observing while they perform their myriad specialized tasks…but everything seems to be normal so far…
Until he sees them.
No…not them…it. These things are not living organisms…they stand out too much to him. But why? Why do these things stand out so much to the taby? What do-
His fur puffs out when he sees what it just did to one of the human’s cells…making him feel…angry.
This horrible thing is destroying the human’s body! And it’s spreading! At this rate, the human would not be able to survive if it keeps on like this! He is helpless to these terrible things! The very things…that Ming could destroy.
With a quiet growl, he obeys his instincts…the call of duty as he sends his goo on the attack, finding…seeking and devouring every single one of these evil things… tens…hundreds…thousands! He will find and destroy every last one until the infection is no more!
Time quickly passes, as the taby is makes short work of these evil things hurting his human…and with every last of them gone…the feeling of wrongness in the human’s body fades away…bringing a sense of peace and relief…
The human is safe…
‘You owe me so much petting for this.’ Ming comments to the sleeping human, knowing full well that he cannot hear him.
Ming can’t help but feel proud of his accomplishment, besides…
‘A healthy host is a happy host.’ the taby thinks with a grin.
Getting up, Ming can finally experience his reward of having a host body to gain so many ideas from. But where can he start?
He recalls the capabilities that humans have to open things with their paws, where no container can keep its secrets hidden away from them…wait…he HAS those paws!! HE can open anything now! From the food on these shelves to the sealed boxes in his home!
Ming can feel his tail shiver up and flick left and right…yes! He will do just that!
Getting up onto his legs, he makes his way to one of the boxes close to his bed, it isn’t easy having a whole new pair of legs, but from what he is receiving from the human’s body, he has a pretty good idea on how to do it.
He starts off with a few uneasy steps, shaking and shuddering as he struggles to maintain his balance…something tells Ming that this shouldn’t be normal…as if he is lacking guidance…
‘If only the human was awake…he could have shown me how these work.’
Despite the difficulty, Ming slowly picks up that the method of moving this body is quite similar to how he uses his own legs back in his old body…except just two legs this time. Okay, so maybe it was a little difficult.
But, eventually, he makes his way to the mysterious box…the one he can’t help but feel attached to ever since he has ‘woken up’ in this room. Something about this box feels important to him…like it is ‘his’...maybe it has something to do with when he was a normal cat? Back before when…
…
Ming shakes the thought out of his head…he refuses to think back…and why should he? He doesn’t want to remember… none of his latex kind does…they know well enough that it’s just not worth it.
But let’s not down the mood, instead…how about we open this mysterious box once and for all? Using his new and improved paws, he uses them to lift the folds of the box…revealing its secrets within…inside…he finds a-
‘MOUSE!!!’
…
Oh wait…it’s actually a toy that looks like a mouse…but that doesn’t damper his mood, it just feels so familiar…his instincts guide him as he throws the mouse to the floor…why does this feel so normal to the taby?
Crouching down onto the floor, he examines this strange mouse up close as if to inspect, trying to unravel the mystery behind it. He can’t help but feel so attached to this mouse…like…
He then bats it away from his paw as his instincts flare.
‘CATCH MOUSE!!!’
Ming leaps towards the mouse, latching onto it before flicking it into the air. Allowing these instincts to guide him further, he quickly rolls onto his back and before catching it with his paws
‘Gotcha!’
Ming doesn’t know why this feels so natural, but he doesn’t care right now…he is having so much fun! Is this what it is like to have a host? Where has this human been all his life??
It doesn’t matter now, he will relish the experience as much as possible. Getting up, Ming heads back to the box to peer inside it, taking all these strange wonderful possessions into his paws…a sense of excitement and fun zaps up from memories he was barely aware of before.
And right then…he knows just how much fun this will be.
…
…
…
‘How is this colourful feather so entertaining??’ Ming asks himself, waving the wand with a string and feather attached to it with one paw while trying to bat it with the other.
For every toy that Ming plays with, this feeling of fun and excitement grows. And there are so…many…TOYS!
Looking at the box, his excitement gets a hold of him as he rushes forward, pulling the box down to allow all of its contents to spill out. Ming murrs in excitement as he takes in the sights of his newfound treasure…every ball…every mouse…every feather…and a…
…
A small page…
No…it’s not a page… it's a…what was it again? A picture? Yes, that sounds right. Curiosity gets the best of him as he picks up a picture to examine it up close. The contents of the picture surprise him… it's…him…when he was a normal taby…back before he changed into something else…but there is someone else in the picture…a human girl…
He shudders as he looks upon the picture…the more he looks at it…the more he remembers…the time when everything went wrong…he-
‘NO!’
With a growl, he casts the picture away, sealing his memories back into the abyss…he doesn’t want to remember…
…
And unfortunately…everything starts to feel heavy…
Ming had noticed it as time went on but paid it no mind. Now it is getting worse. It is starting to become more difficult to move this new body of his, his energy depleting faster the longer he stays within this human, at this rate he will not be able to move at all…
‘But…’
He wraps his arms around himself as if to hold his human host tightly…does he really have to? He doesn’t want to let this go…not just yet…
…
…
But he has no real choice in the matter.
‘Maybe if I rest for a bit…I could go back and transfur him again?’
…
Not the best plan, but it’s the only one he has.
Reaching out to every strand of himself within the human’s body, be begins to release and pull away the many countless connections, removing layer after layer of himself he had implanted over the human’s body.
Lying down on the floor to make sure the human won’t get hurt in the process, he continues to reverse the transfur.
As the goo leaves the insides of the human’s body, his goo from the outside starts to deform and melt…losing the cat-like traits as they are reduced to human-like traits covered in goo. He allows himself to melt onto the floor leaving the human’s body exactly as it should be…not a single cell out of place…minus those things, of course.
Despite leaving the body, Ming is glad to realize he still ‘knows’ how the human body works, as if a blueprint was imprinted on his mind…maybe he can make a few modifications to his current form…
Either way, he has to leave, as the very last drip of latex leaves the human’s skin, returning him back to the way he was. It upsets him to leave the human’s body…and the fact he missed out a lot on this amazing experience is sad…but…Ming needs to rest…
Grabbing one of his favourite balls, the one that makes this ringing sound when shaken…he carries it with his mouth before making his way back to bed.
Ming yawns, pulling his ball close to him as he rests…daydreaming about all the things he could do with his human…what a day it has been…
…
…
*Swoosh*
‘Huh???’
Snapping awake, Ming quickly searches and locates the source of the sound, the sight filling him with horror.
The human is leaving!!
Not wanting his human to get away, he quickly dashes down the corridor, trying to stop him.
‘WAIT, WAIT! STOP!’
“MEEOOOWWW!!!”
But it’s no use, the human quickly shuts the door tight, leaving him all alone…
Desperate, Ming scratches the door, trying to call him back.
‘Human wait! Come back! Please!’
He doesn’t want to lose this, he doesn’t want to lose his human…not again!
…
Wait…
All of this feels so familiar…
…
And then…the memories he cast away came back to him…
…
“Sorry Ming…I have to go! I have work to do!”
“Meoww…” the taby pleads, not wanting his favourite human to go away.
“I know I know…I will be back soon ok? I won’t be long…just wait for me for a bit ok?”
“Meowww…” the taby pleads, though he does not quite understand what his favourite human is saying, he still does not want to see her go.
And just like that…the human closes the door…leaving him all alone again…
Oh well…he can wait for a while, his human will come back soon right? She always does!
…
…
But that day never came…
He sometimes hears loud banging, then the screams, and all these scary sounds outside his home. All of this scares and confuses him…what is happening…?
*Slosh*
Huh? What was that?
And then…looking at the tiny metal plate embedded on the wall…something came through…something white…something gooey…something dangerous. Every strand of his fur puffs at the sight of it.
“HISSS!!” The Taby hisses, trying to intimidate the strange formless gooey creature.
But it does nothing…as the goo immediately attacks.
Before the surprised taby can move…everything changes…
The goo takes hold of him…changing him to this more flexible form…he can feel as though he is…becoming something different…being able to form more complex thoughts…but they have been quickly locked away as something else takes its place…instincts…instincts to spread and assimilate.
…
…
…
The rest is nothing but a blur…not that he wants to remember what he became around that time…but he ‘woke up’ one day in this very room he calls home, no longer chained to his instincts to spread and assimilate everything around him.
He finds himself looking down at the very same picture again…the one that has him and his favourite human…the one who he may never see again…
Painful thoughts came crashing into his mind…how could he have forgotten about her? His favourite human? The one whom he loves just as much as she loves him…
Tears start to flow down Ming’s eyes…feeling nothing but heartache…
‘What do I do now…’
He feels lost…so lost…so alone…
…
…
‘You don’t have to do this alone.’
Hearing a feminine voice speak into his mind, Ming looks up to see a large latex watching him from the boxes…
‘What do you mean…?’ Ming asks the latex.
‘I have met many others who were in the same situation just like you…’
‘Like me?’
‘Yes, when they are remembering who they were years ago…I too…have been there before.’
‘B-but I don’t want to remember! It hurts to remember!’
‘It’s never easy to remember…but you can’t just forget about it now, if you don’t you may never be at peace.’
Ming shakes his head, stuck in denial.
‘I don’t…I-I shouldn’t but I…I WANT to know who my human is…or where she is!’
‘Then why back away?’
‘...I’m scared…’
…
The latex climbs down from the boxes, sitting beside him as she pulls him close, wrapping her large fluffy tail around him for comfort.
‘We don’t need to rush…just take all the time you need…I will be here…’
The taby does nothing but allows himself to be embraced by this gentle latex…she did say she had remembered things before? Just like what he’s going through?
‘Who are you…? What’s your name?’
The latex brushes her paw against his head before she answers.
‘Teyla.’
Ahhh…
‘This is the life…’
And Ming couldn’t ask for a better one…and why would he? He has everything he needs. A large fluffy pillow that makes a warm bed, a room filled with boxes, plenty of food not too far from his home…heck, there is even a whole supply of food on the shelf!
‘Teyla.’
