HellFireRed - Part 16

Yeah, funny story. Apparently, the Gen I Pokémon that evolve via happiness (i.e. Golbat to Crobat and Chansey to Blissey) are unable to do so in FireRed/LeafGreen until you get the National Dex. What, just because we don't possess a random piece of advanced technology, the completely independent and natural processes of evolution get halted in their tracks? What fucking sense does that make? At least in HeartGold/SoulSilver, the Gen II Pokémon that evolve by learning certain moves in Gen IV can still do so before the National Dex. The ones that evolved by new stones couldn't because said stones were withheld until post-National, but at least that makes logical sense.

Of course by the time I got the national Dex, Crobat was pretty much outclassed by every other poison or flying type I had >8[
Crobat's still a pretty great Poison/Flying type though. Especially compared to the other ones in the first Gen, half of which are weaksauce Grass and the other two are Arbok and Weezing. They're good, but not fantastic. :<
But yeah, I love Crobat. I actually never had one until Platinum. I managed to get mine before I even got to the second Gym. Can you say Disk One Nuke? Scrappy the Crobat, that's his name, and he DESTROYED pretty much all of Sinnoh. GO GO KANTO-MON SUPERIORITY!
FUCK YEAH, DISC ONE NUKES also Crobat's technically a Johto-Mon. :<
But I guess the developers did this to keep the feel of Generation I.
