I feel the texture just adds a bit of variety for me, but it depends on the picture. Here I used it because winter materials are all different types of fabric and I didn't want every article of clothing they're wearing to appear to be made of the same material. The silver one's sweater I especially wanted it to look knit because to me that's a really wintry fabric.
As one who loves going outside in the winter I enjoy the feeling this one evokes: wintertime outside, having something comfortably warm to drink, friendly conversation with a friend.... The colors & lightness in the background really captures the feel of a bright but snowy day up north. The facial expressions are well-done also.
