Sitting limply in the crooked gazebo
Morning sun reflecting
off of the lake and then again off your blank glazed-over eyes
Arms by your side, holding nothing but the end of a life

When I first met you
standing on the pavement
Although I could not see you
I knew my life had ended
As you stumbled across the boards beneath the weeds
Fixated on my empty pale blue palms, unsure of who to call

And that’s how it was that morning
With the universes ending
