I’ll admit, it’s been ages since I’ve seen anything Lion King-related. The most recent memories I have of the series are of watching II in 4th grade (Zira’s hard to forget), and before that, watching 1 ½, not noticing the ½, and being very confused. I have seen the first movie, but I barely remember much outside of the general plot. That being said, after seeing the hyenas’ boss fights in Kingdom Hearts II, I decided to look them up, and I really liked them! I’ll admit their sense of humor doesn’t always click with me, but I do find them entertaining and lovable characters. Shenzi in particular is my second favorite (just barely behind Banzai); she’s got a beautiful voice and appearance, and I love her banter with Banzai. It’s nice to have a bad guy who treats their subordinates more like friends than minions.
There really needs to be more of the hyenas hypnotized in general. Shenzi’s definitely got the most, but still, she could use some more.
Hopefully this helps change that!
Kaa slithered through the cave, keeping an eye out for any movement. If the one he’d snared yesterday was right, the hyenas were moving out of the Elephant’s Graveyard tomorrow. Some of them had some surprising paunch for starving predators, and with hundreds of hyenas on the move, there were sure to be some stragglers. Still, he’d have to be careful. Without the element of surprise, even a single hyena could be a challenge for him; smaller or not, those teeth could easily pierce his scales.
From what he’d heard, there were a few who occasionally spent time in these caves. Even if they weren’t there, it might at least make a decent spot for an ambush. Now, if he were a hyena, where would he be…?
Shenzi was really starting to wish she was somewhere else.
You’d think finishing King Traitor would get a girl and her clan a break; instead, it got them a week to clear out. Pleas of “there’s crazy lionesses out there!” got them surprisingly little sympathy. (Seriously, she did not want to risk running into Zira in the Outlands; she was scary enough when you hadn’t just eaten her… mate? Crush? Hero? Whatever Scar was to her.) She, Banzai and Ed had been scouting the Outlands, trying to find a route and a place to stay, and they were pretty sure they’d succeeded. Now all that was left was wandering the Graveyard, making sure everything and everyone was ready.
And apparently, she’d picked the abandoned part.
She’d been at this for the last hour, and she still hadn’t seen anyone. Shenzi was about to call it quits and leave when something green and scaly caught her eyes. The hyena dove behind an outcropping, watching in awe as a massive snake rounded the corner.
The meal that thing would make…!
…The Birdie Boiler wasn’t nearby, but she did know where to find a big geyser.
Banzai and Ed were going to be SO jealous! Fried noodle, here she came!
Kaa glanced around nervously. He could swear he could hear the clicking of claws against stone, the sound of something stalking through the cave. What had him worried was that he couldn’t see the hyena (or whatever it was); there were only so many places to hide, and he was fairly sure-
“Boo!”
Kaa yelped, whirling around to find himself face-to-face with a hyena, teeth bared in a mocking grin.
“Well, what do we have here?” she smirked, walking around the snake. “You lost, noodle?”
“…Ssssssomewhat,” he nervously replied. “I wandered in looking for food, and I can’t ssssseem to find the exssssit. I don’t ssssupposssse you know where it isssss?”
“Why the rush to leave? I’m pretty great company,” the hyena continued, never dropping her smirk.
“True, you are quite the beautiful hyena,” Kaa admitted. “Perhapssss we could chat? SSSSssshenzsssi, right? I’m Kaa.”
“And I’m hungry,” Shenzi grinned. “Sorry, but flattery won’t get you anywhere but my stomach. Even if you and me wouldn’t be breaking so many laws of nature, I’m taken.”
“That’ssss a ssssshame,” Kaa sighed. “My congratulationssss to your partner. How about a deal, then? I have my own waysssss of hunting, onesssss that have landed me full-grown lionsssss. I can ssssshow you, and if it doesssssn’t ssssssatisssssfy, I’m your meal.”
“…Why not, I could use the laugh!” Shenzi smirked. “All right, Kaa, let’s see what you’ve got.”
“Excsssselent! Now, the firssssst sssstep isssss eye contact…” Kaa smirked.
Shenzi stared slack-jawed as the snake’s eyes filled with spirals. Beautiful colors spun through her sight, swirl after swirl sweeping up her thoughts as they filled her with bliss. She felt almost weightless as a fuzzy, tingly feeling spread through her body. Kaa moved his head to and fro, and Shenzi mimicked his motions; a gesture, and the hyena was swaying her hips as a smile crept across her face. The snake backed away, and the spellbound scavenger followed, her pupils shrinking to pinpricks as she scaled a staircase of coils; she wasn’t missing a single moment of the pretty lightshow!
Shenzi stepped across the snake’s body, her eyes never leaving his as she marched through loop after loop. A slope had her sliding back and forth on her belly, lying limp as Kaa signaled her to stop. The snake’s tail stroked her body, Shenzi sighing in contentment as she rose at Kaa’s command. The tail was held out, and Shenzi placed her paws on it. Kaa lifted them ‘til she stood on two paws, and with a gesture, their dance began. Shenzi stumbled about, her hips swinging in circles as she swayed with the snake, tail wagging behind her as her eyes swirled with color. A coil wrapped around the hyena’s waist and took her into a spin, Kaa nearly nose-to-nose with her as he took her back down to all fours, wrapped almost up to her shoulders in coils.
Kaa’s tongue flicked across the hyena’s nose, Shenzi giggling at the tickling touch. Then the coils began to shift, and Shenzi let out some very different sounds. The snake pressed against her, scales sliding through her soft fur as he squeezed her all over in a massage that had the hyena moaning and panting in delight. Her tongue flopped from her mouth as a tail scratched her behind the ear; the snake really knew how to treat a girl. She’d never felt so good, so pampered, so loved in her life, and she owed it all to Kaa.
She’d started to drool by the time the snake spoke up. “Good girl! Sssssuch a ssssweet Ssssshenzsssi. You were sssssmart to sssstare into the ssssspiralsss, to take in their blisssssful beauty. There’ssss no need for thoughtsssss or free will; I’ll handle thossssse burdensssss. You’ll be free to relaxssss, my colorssss and commandsssss filling your empty head, a happily hypnotized hyena sssserving my every whim. Food, protection, conversation, entertainment – you’ll provide it all and more with a ssssmile. I’ll be your beloved masssster, and you my precsssioussss pet, cherisssshed in all the coilsssss, colorssss, and praisssse you could assssk for.”
Her eyes whirling madly with colors, her tail wagging at warp speeds, a dopey smile across her face, Shenzi had never nodded faster. “I’m all yours! I don’t need to think – I just got to obey! You want anything, you got it; all of this loveliness included! I’m a good girl! I’m a sweet Shenzi! I’m Master’s pet!”
A quick tug on the neck, and with a PING! and a howl of ecstasy, Shenzi broke into the biggest, goofiest grin of her life.
Kaa sighed happily as he stroked Shenzi’s cheek, the hyena leaning into his touch. She was a special one, soft, snuggly, and beautiful. Her personality could use some work, but that wasn’t anything his colors couldn’t improve. Being the leader of a hyena clan only added to the benefits – so many hyenas at her, and by extension, his, command, so many potential meals and pets. And that wasn’t even getting into her cute friends, and whoever her partner was (they’d learn to share for a while). All in all, Shenzi was quite the catch.
And now she was all his.
Kaa nuzzled his pet, giving her a quick kiss. The hyena blushed and giggled as Kaa gently flipped her onto her back, her tail stiff as a board behind her.
Kaa had one question.
“Would Ssssshenzsssssi like a belly rub?”
The answer was a resounding yes.
There really needs to be more of the hyenas hypnotized in general. Shenzi’s definitely got the most, but still, she could use some more.
