I had a "three dimensional design" class that was chairless and it could be tiring, but I hated working with cardboard so much more than I hated having to stand up. for other art-related classes there were stools and chairs available, but these things were never on the premises!
It does seem as if the much better known style is all wood and blockier, but for whatever reason this is the style that I saw for sale when I looked them up. Only afterward I thought to look up "figure drawing class" and saw numerous pictures of people ridiculously squatting on the wooden ones.
I cannot verify that narthex is any good at drawing but without returning to this subject I suppose I will never know.
