This is just something I've been meaning to try out: A few different types of shading and lineart to try and figure out what I should do in my art in the future. Perhaps some of you can help me decide.


Top Row (Shading):
Left-No shading: This is what I've been doing the last few times, simply eschewing shading completely. It doesn't look very good, but for some purposes, it does the job, so to speak.
Middle-Color shading: This is what I used to do, take a color between the line and fill colors and use it to shade the image. I have very little faith in my own shading skills, but it looks relatively well.
Right-Color and 'Burn' shading: This takes much more work, and is a bit harder to use. I use a second layer over the color shading and set it to multiply and low opacity, and use a 'fuzzier brush'. I kind of like the results, though. However the 'Burn' Layers do not look very good on their own.

Bottom Row (Different Hair/Fur Linework)
Left-'Fuzzy' lines: I don't really like this very much, and it doesn't seem to give quite the 'hairy' look I was looking for.
Middle- Regular with hairlines: Perhaps with some work this could look better, but as it is, this look rather bad.
Right- Fuzzy with lines: I still don't like this very much.
