Haven't really decided what that's about--it's a trait that's present in Deneb and Rigel as well, but not in any of the others (Bellatrix, Arneb, Wezzen, Errai, etc.).
At one point I had considered it being a side effect of weird Space Drugs, but the more I think about it, the more I think it might just be a genetic thing or a mutation or variation, like how some rats and mice have red eyes even when they're not albino.
