Continuing my great quest of mourning what we could have gotten in the anime if we didn't live in the dumbest timeline.
The thought of the big grumpy fox being called Kurama Ouji-chan, having to put up with the kids' nonsene, absolutely refusing
to admit that he actually enjoys being part of the family despite putting up an annoyed front, is like the greates thought ever to me.
Even storywise it would have made so much sense to have him help raise Naruto's kids while he isn't home and busy with his Hokage-work,
also, what greater display of trust than entrusting his kids to the big monsterfox? His and Himawari's personality are literal polar opposites and
would have made for such interesting chemistry. He'd be such a great teach as well, maybe harsh but also full of life experience from however
many years he's old, being able to teach them stuff even Naruto couldn't cause he's still relatively young himself.
Fell like I could go on about this forever x3 But alas, we got what we got, but that won't stop me from doodling more uncle Kurama pics~
Actually got one with the exact same title already --> https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38497424/
But I refuse to change it cause I love the title so much x3
Anyway, hope you like it

I just had an hour-long conversation about this with my BF due to this picture. I've seen very little but I naturally absorb information by hearsay and research, and my feelings are... it just kinda, doesn't work as a progression of the characters Naruto established. It doesn't allow them to exist in a way that's emotionally healthy and satisfying - Naruto acts like a boomer toward his kids and wife, for example, telling Boruto not to use tools, or his wife to stay home. It does some really neat things here and there, but overall, it's too obsessed with trying to be BETTER than Naruto, and thus falls into the caveat of edgy for edgy's sake (Boruto calling his past self someone who didn't take being a ninja seriously just doesn't feel satisfying like Naruto keeping his childish optimism did), and even shoehorned the Kurama... event... to try to FORCE the torch into the new characters' hands. My bf also informed me of Boruto receiving powerups that just, don't make sense and feel shoehorned, unlike Naruto's natural sense of progression and creative new forms and powers.
It misses the point that MADE Naruto great - that you can be yourself and that's enough.
I saw an article tonight that summed it up pretty well with a few things it said. It said that Naruto's lost his greatest power - the one of empathy. It also said that Naruto as a protagonist served as a ladder for other character's stories to play out perfectly. And it said hat if an anime's script or protagonist is good enough, there is no need to destroy another character's story and personality, like is being done with Naruto.
Do my feelings pretty much sum up what's going on with the series so far? My bf and I have agreed that the best thing would be a rewrite (though that's an intimidating thing for a creator to do with an existing show). Though we also identify scenes that would be worth saving and characters who are good - he likes Choji's daughter a lot, for example.
To me, it kinda feels like Boruto was written by an entirely different person from Naruto... and it doesn't work as the continuation to Naruto. It's not just not as good or not the same, like with a lot of sequels, it's blatantly very much NOT as good nor does it CARE about the values Naruto did. It... it's not that it lacks heart, it's like that heart is hidden by how much it's trying to be something it's not. Like Boruto's obsession with Sasuke can be read as, to be honest, if we wanna use a metaphor from the story.

Adding this to my above post, since it really gets at what I feel - Naruto's optimism and supportive adults (and kids!) helping undo damage caused by NOT supportive ones made his story easy for millennials to find security in. In Boruto... everyone's falling victim to boomer-style pratfalls of character, most of the show just doesn't vibe right or make sense, and a lot of characters just aren't treated right. And while it's true millennials and people in general are prone to edgy phases, something Naruto thrived in having its protagonist DEFY or at least balance with his optimism, Boruto's clinging to edge and has no reason for its characters to BE edgy to begin with, since Naruto really is a story that wrapped up with positivity and characters supporting each other.
I feel the same, back when i heard there was going to be a sequel of Naruto i was bursting with joy, and instead... so much disappointments, and Kurama is definitely the biggest one ;-;
At least we can still imagine how it would have been if they didn't wasted opportunities thanks to your fantastic works, thank you for that, lord woof! >W<

Aaaah! I would love to see this, i actually thought that Kurama would come out just to take care of the family, like Naruto has to go to a days long meeting and Hinata falls ill, so Kurama has to step in (get it... because he is big) and help the family... it would be so fun and and interesting to see
This is so adorable that I feel your pain. I really so wish he at least interacted with the family more or something. I mean he's been through thick and thin with Naruto at this point and yet it feels like they made him that one pet you just have around the house you occasionally interact with. Like cmon guys, show our boy some love!
Brilliant work on this. I do like wholesome takes on Kurama, as well as Shukaku. : )
I like Boruto more compared to his father, but I haven't seen more of the show since it got put on Toonami up to a certain point. They booted it off temporarily because they decided it was too soon and had way too many spoilers for people who didn't finish Shippuden (too late now though). Once Shippuden is done airing in its entirety, they'll supposedly resume Boruto from where they left off.

I was sceptical about Baruto, after seeing how downhill the plot went in Naruto after the Pain fight (hard to beat).
But I thought, hey! It'll have more Kurama and Naruto being awesome. So I read the manga...
I get why they done it. But to do it in such a lazy and contrived way. I just stopped reading; I had no motivation to continue. Just 'meh'.
I still wish they'd done something like in the Naruto pilot and have Boruto be able to turn into a kitsune. That would have been neat.
Also, Kurama looks so adorable in your style. I just want to cuddle him. X3
