Finally, I'm strting to get to the main story line from Petra's world. This is the story of Kira (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/46163543/) and her story kinda sets up this whole universe.
Sorry for the delays in posting stuff by the way. I've been sorta busy lately. And I've really been trying to focus on getting this story done. I'm still writting the later parts, so that's gonna be my focus for a bit.
Anywho, not a lot of fun stuff in this part. This story starts out kinda slow, but it sets up important stuff so just bear with me.
Here's part two: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/59573778/
Kira’s Story
The fox looked up at the big old house. She had seen it many times on her nightly excursions, but she didn’t know who lived there. The place always looked dark, empty, and foreboding to her. Someone on the street had told her that it was some lady that owned the place and lived there alone, away from everyone else. Perfect place for being alone too. Tucked away in a semi-wooded area up on a hill on the edge of town. It took a good ten minutes just to walk up the main path that led to the place.
Kira darted from tree to tree as she made her way up the path, hoping she wasn’t too visible in the moonlight. She paused to take another look at the house, making sure she wasn’t being observed. She didn’t see any lights on, so she assumed the owner must be in bed. The place truly was massive; a mansion like you would see in fanciful novels, or occasionally in horror stories. Whoever lives in there must have some serious money, Kira thought. So, hopefully she would be able to get something worthwhile out of all this hassle. This was a hell of a risk; she knew that. But the fox was hungry, so she didn’t see much in the way of alternatives. Steeling her nerves, she crept towards the house.
Fortunately, it would appear the homeowner didn’t care much about security. The locks on the windows were very old and rusted, so It didn’t take Kira very long to find one she could force open. She carefully stepped through and surveyed her surroundings looking for any potential threats. The house was dark, so the homeowner was most likely in bed; one of the benefits of breaking in after midnight. The vixen slowly and quietly crept forward, keeping her eyes and ears tuned, looking for any signs of danger in case she had to make a hasty retreat back to the window.
Kira was struck by how nice the place looked. Despite the exterior appearance the house actually seemed quite warm and cozy on the inside. A lot of woodwork and warm colored carpets adorned the clearly old home. Although the house felt old, there were no signs of disrepair like what Kira had seen on the house’s exterior. The owner must have taken great lengths to keep everything neat and tidy looking. Even at a quick glance, the fox could tell the place was absolutely massive. Taking a quick peek down one of the hallways she spotted what appeared to be the main entranceway which featured a grand staircase that led up to the second floor. Nearby she also spotted a sitting room that seemed to be for entertaining guests, and a small dining area with ornate tables and chairs. There was also a small, somewhat hidden staircase that went down to a lower floor.
Refocusing on the task at hand, Kira looked about for anything that might be useful. Apparently, she had had a bit of luck and had entered the house just next to what appeared to be a small kitchen area with a connected pantry. The vixen quickly made her way inside and wasted no time in locating the fridge. She opened it up and her jaw almost hit the floor. There was more food packed into that fridge than she’d ever seen in her life. She tried, unsuccessfully, to prevent herself from dooling as her stomach growled hungrily. Scanning the fridges contents, the fox prepared to dig in.
“May I help you?” a calm voice said.
Yelping in surprise, the startled fox nearly jumped a mile as she quickly whipped around. The owner of the voice, and apparently the house, was a slender, seemingly middle aged woman with light blond hair and icy blue eyes. She was dressed in a simple, yet elegant black dress, with a violet shawl draped around her shoulders. Her cold gaze latched on Kira, her face showing no emotion whatsoever. The fox had no idea what to make of the strange woman, with her seemingly flawless pale skin and her somewhat old fashioned attire.
Kira didn’t give it much thought, instead her mind was racing trying to figure out what to do. She had to get out of there. If she didn’t, she knew it would be bad. Punishments for stealing could be harsh, especially if an animal had committed the crime. The humans in general didn’t think too much of the anthro animals to begin with. This lady could probably pull out a gun and shoot Kira right then and there and nobody would care too much. She was a thief after all. It would be considered justified self-defense and that would be the end of it. One less thieving animal for them to worry about.
Kira thought about making a mad dash back to the window she had come in through. She looked over the lady trying to judge her athletic ability. Kira figured it probably wouldn’t be too difficult to dash past her and out run her back to the window and slip out. She was all ready to give it a try only, she didn’t move. The more she tried to, the harder it seemed to get. Her whole body seemed to be frozen in place. She couldn’t even open her mouth to ask what was happening. The lady smirked, walked over to the wall, and flipped on the lights. She silently scanned over Kira with her eyes.
“So,” she said finally, “what do we have here?”
Kira tried to respond, but she couldn’t open her mouth.
The lady eyed the bag sticking out of the vixen’s back pocket. “Let me guess, you were going to load up with whatever you could carry and slip out the window into the night, was that the plan?”
This time Kira didn’t even try to say anything. What could she say? The lady wasn’t exactly wrong.
“Hm,” the woman smirked. “So, that begs the question. What should we do with you?”
Kira’s heart pounded in her chest. She wanted to run, or beg and plead for mercy, or do anything really. But, she was rooted to the spot and couldn’t move a muscle. Somehow, she had been rendered completely helpless and was now at the mercy of a stranger whose house she’d just broken into. Things were not looking good for her.
The lady looked at Kira for a while. The young vixen could almost feel the strange woman thinking to herself as her cold blue eyes scanned Kira’s body, possible ideas and scenarios of what she could do with the thief running through her mind. “I could just turn you over to the police,” the lady said. The fox’s heart skipped a beat. The lady continued to look Kira over, as if silently assessing her. “Or,” she finally said, “perhaps we could settle this in another manner.”
Now Kira was confused. Was the lady threatening her? She didn’t seem to be. But, what could she mean? A little spark of hope rose in her chest. Maybe this lady was going to be merciful.
“I am prepared to make you a deal,” the strange woman said, “I am a believer in punishments that are, let’s say educational, and hopefully serve a purpose. You have damaged my property, invaded my home, and disturbed my peaceful evening. I believe that means you have built up a debt that you owe to me. I propose that you work here for me until I feel that debt is paid.”
Kira tried to process what she had just heard. Work there? What did she mean by that? Would it be things like fixing broken locks and hinges or maybe giving the place a new coat of paint? The most Kira knew about locks came from trying to pick them and occasionally getting herself out of handcuffs. If this lady was looking for a handyman, then she’s got the wrong girl.
The lady smirked again, “interested?” she asked. “It seems more than a fair offer to me. Besides, you really aren’t in much of a position to decline are you?”
Kira groaned internally, she had a point.
“So, what do you say sweetheart?” the woman said.
The fox was busy thinking about how weird it was to have this random lady call her sweetheart, that she almost missed the fact that the woman was actually waiting for her to respond. She noticed that she finally could, her voice was seemingly under her control again. As scared and confused as she was, Kira struggled and stammered trying to find a response.
The lady cut her off, “well, as I said it’s not as though you have much of a choice I’m afraid. Anyway, it’s late and I’m not sure about you but I am very tired. I’ll give you some time to ponder things overnight.” The strange woman turned and began to walk away. As she turned, she made a beckoning motion with her hand and Kira felt an unseen force pull her forward. Her legs now at least somewhat mobile again, Kira stumbled and staggered trying to keep her balance as she was forced to follow the lady.
As new fear and panic set in, Kira finally found her voice again. “Wait!” the vixen cried out. The woman paused and turned back to face the young fox. “W-wha-what do you want from me?” Kira stammered nervously.
The lady smirked and cocked her head. “My name is Ms. Winshire by the way, and for the next… three months shall we say? You, my dear, are going to be my new maid.” She turned back around and continued walking, that same strange force pulling Kira along.
“Three months!? Wait wha-... maid!?!” Kira tried to dig in her heels to stop herself from moving forward, but she couldn’t resist whatever it was that was making her follow the strange woman. “Wait, please stop!” the vixen cried out again and mercifully, Ms. Winshire did pause and turn back to face the panicked fox. “H-how… how are you doing this?” Kira asked in a small, whimpering voice.
Ms. Winshire chuckled to herself and gave the fox a sly smile. “Oh, it’s quite simple darling,” she replied, “I’m a witch.”
