Donkey Kong’s a character I’ve loved for ages. While I’m not the craziest about the original arcade game (mainly because of DK64; seriously, even with restore points, getting that banana and medal is a nightmare), I’m a huge fan of the Donkey Kong Country series (and DK64, minus some minigames; I can’t stand Beaver Bother, and Batty Barrel Bandit isn’t great either). I’ve had a lot of fun with them, and I do enjoy DK as a character. He’s a big, funny monkey rolling and jumping his way through levels and beating the heck out of bad guys; what’s not to love? Mario vs. Donkey Kong is great too; I’ve only played Minis on the Move, but I had a lot of fun with it. I really wish I’d gotten to play the others; they seemed fun!
It's surprising how little there is of DK hypnotized, especially given the existence of the Tikis. Then again, they didn’t manage to hypnotize him, so that kind of resilience might have something to do with it.
Hope you enjoy!
Donkey Kong swung through the jungle with a grin, hand outstretched as he went through a line of bananas. The ape leapt from the vine and hit the ground rolling, pulling off a jump in midair to grab a G and land in a Rocket Barrel. DK was launched from barrel to barrel, grabbing line after line of bananas and coins, finally crashing into a floating barrel and pummeling it. He struck a pose as 17 coins rained down around him; he’d been trying for the bananas, but this worked too!
The level finished, every letter and puzzle piece in his possession, DK ran home with a grin. That level had been the perfect end to a great week! He’d gone to the Mushroom Kingdom, won at Mario Party, gotten some Minis; he’d even seen the Rabbids again! Friends, bananas, and fun; life couldn’t get better than this!
…Except with MORE BANANAS!
DK gasped in delight; there was an entire bunch of Golden Bananas dangling from a rope! He didn’t know they even came in bunches; for some reason he only ever seemed to find one at a time, usually in a barrel with a fun minigame, or up in some hard-to-reach place. The Kong charged the bunch, his prizes forgotten-
And a giant snake popped up in front of them.
DK yelped, skidding to a stop just in time.
“Hello there!” the snake cheerfully spoke up. “I ssssee you’ve taken an interesssst in my bananasssssss…”
“Can I have them?” DK immediately asked.
“Not for free, I’m afraid,” the snake raised a coil in what could have been a sympathetic shrug. “But asssss a prize, cssssertainly.”
It was then that DK noticed the massive TV screen behind the snake and the bananas, and the cameras set up around it.
“Is this a gameshow? All right, what’s the challenge?” DK asked, flexing confidently. “Even if it’s chasing beavers into a hole or winning at slots, I’ve got this!”
The snake blinked in confusion. “Thosssse are sssssome oddly sssssspecssssific exssssamplessss. Nothing that complexssss, I’m afraid. I jusssst need you to keep your eyesssss on the screen and lisssten closssely for the nexsssst 10 minutesssss.”
DK shrugged. “Weird gameshow, but all right. You’re probably not going to beat Swanky’s ratings anytime soon, though.”
The snake snickered. “We’ll ssssee. I’m Kaa, by the way. You?”
“Donkey Kong, but you can call me DK,” he grinned. “Ready to start?”
“I thought you’d never asssssk,” Kaa smirked.
DK stared in confusion as the screen lit up with swirling colors. The rainbows were pretty, but he didn’t get the big deal. More importantly, the bananas were moving, swinging back and forth on the rope! He was still staring at the screen, but his eyes would occasionally flicker over to the fruit.
“Remember, you jussssst need to keep watching the pretty colorssss,” Kaa chimed in. “It might be a bit, sssso why not relaxsssss…?”
DK was about to reply when the colors flared with light. The ape oohed in approval, his eyes widening at the sight; the colors had gotten so much nicer to look at, only interrupted by the bananas swinging about. Those would be so good after this…
“Issssn’t relaxsssssing wonderful? There’ssss no need to think, no need to choosssse; just gaze upon the bananassss and their beautiful colorsssss,” Kaa hissed.
“The colors are from the bananas?” DK asked.
“Yesssss, can’t you tell? It’sssss like with thossssse colored bananasssss that only a cssssertain Kong could pick up,” Kaa snickered. “And ssssincssssse they come from the bananassssss, you can trussst they are good, trusssst the snake who showed you them to take care of you, to think for you…”
The snake made sense! The colors made him feel so nice, so light on his feet… of course he could trust them! And he could trust Kaa, too… so he could relax….
A smile crept up DK’s face as his jaw fell slack, his arms limp by his sides. The spirals seemed to sweep through his thoughts, sucking them up and washing them away in a blissful rainbow river. Everything felt so soft, so fuzzy and tingly… he could follow their flow forever.
The rainbow rings bobbed and weaved about, and the ape moved his head alongside them; a touch of the snake’s tail, and he was swaying on his feet as his pupils shrank to pinpricks. A push, and he was stumbling towards the screen, eager for a closer look. He barely noticed as Kaa’s tail crept up his body, shuddering in bliss as soft scales slithered through his fur. Soon enough, he was wrapped up to his shoulders in a cushiony coil cocoon, and the pleasure really began. A tail tracing his muscles, the snake’s body squeezing and stroking his all over, DK helplessly moaned and panted in delight, his tongue flopping out as he practically melted into the coils. He never wanted this to end…
The snake began to speak, every silky syllable slipping into DK’s empty head. “Good ape. Ssssso eager to help, sssso sssssmart to ssssstare into the ssssspiralssss. That’sssss earned you a prize alongssssside the bananasssss, one jusssst assss good, if not better. You’ll be free to relaxsssss, to play all you like worry-free. I’ll handle your thoughtssss, your choicessss, your will; all you need to do isssss obey. Food, protection, converssssation, play – if I want it, you’ll provide it with a sssssmile and a head full of colorsssss. You’ll be my loyal pet, coiled, caressed and cared for, and I your beloved massssster.”
Eyes whirling with color, drool dripping from a dopey grin, DK had never nodded faster. “I want to obey! No thoughts, no worries – it’ll be a nonstop vacation! I’ll get you anything, Master! I’m your loyal pet!”
A quick tug on the neck, and with a PING! and an ecstatic screech, Donkey Kong broke into the biggest, goofiest grin of his life.
Kaa loosened his coils as the bananas dropped from the rope, the snake snickering as the ape gleefully grabbed the bananas. Some stereotypes were a delight to behold, especially given how difficult DK had been. His stubbornness was likely impenetrable, but try a different direction, trick him into accepting the colors, and soon enough, you had yourself a mind-controlled monkey. Soft and strong with so many muscles – DK was quite the catch. And that wasn’t even mentioning all his cute friends and family…
He'd definitely have to reward K. Rool later; the king had been invaluable in providing supplies, even if he didn’t end up using that game show host outfit. His intentions were good, but the hat covered his face, the glittery red vest only worked if you had arms, and really, what snake had a mustache? He really had to wonder what had been going through his pets’ head before the colors and commands that currently filled it.
Either way, that was a question for another day. Right now, all he wanted to do was cuddle his latest catch.
Kaa gave DK a peck on the cheek, the ape chuckling with a faint blush as Kaa snuggled into his fur.
It was good to be King.
