Conceptual artwork for my last drawing class ever. (FINALLY!)I painted him and took him to school as my art project!
Came from two different directions on this. Cave painting and the heritage of great danes.
Back to cave painting because its the earliest art known to man, and everything since then has evolved from there.
And This side in particular features two horsemen (Teddy Roosevelt and his son Kermit) and Teddy's great dane, President, out on the hunt with mountains in the distance.
Later I painted a winchester rifle on his front leg, making his leg the gun.
Teddy Roosevelt made popular the saying "Speak softly and carry a big stick." and nicknamed his rifle "The big stick".
I also found a large branch for Creature to carry around as part of the project.

Hah! Thanks! He was actually very cooperative. Stayed still on his own mostly. He got a little ancy after about two hours and started side stepping me. lol But I just let him run and jump around and then started again. This process continued for about 6 or 7 hours, so he was a pooped pup by the time I was ready to present him to the class.
He barks at people while hes wagging his tail and he starts to jump towards them. They take it as a threat, but its much more of an "I want to meet you!" thing. Hes just a big dog with a big bark and people are scared of him because of it. They just cant read dogs very well I spose. They think hes being aggressive when he starts barking and lunging for them no matter how fast that tail is going. lol
