It's been awhile since I've drawn this concept. I really love how these turned out so finding it really hard to let go of them.
BTW Hanafudogs are not a closed species. They are inspired by lion guardian statues, hanafuda and a foo dog design from Breath of Fire 4. You are free to make your own based on this lore or not!

BOAR [inoshishi] - fire agate and bronze - astavielze
The talisman burns when evil is near yet never fades. It will ensnare the spirit and burn brighter to cleanse it.
CHERRY BLOSSOM [sakura] - jade, malachite and steel - cattelle
This dented coin will absorb curses and reflect them when it glows full. Shooting a ray of light.
CHRYSANTHEMUM [kiku] - labradorite and iron - talikira
The dagger can create duplicates to attack trespassers when held; firing off like a meteor shower.
CRANE [tsuru] - onyx and iron - talikira
This sword is only able to cut evil spirits and defend against physical attacks. It seems to have a mind of it's own.
SWALLOW [tsubame] - aura quartz and steel - vontier
Their crystal body cleanses evil spirits by eating their negative energy. They can carry several spirits to fight beside them.
