“…Oh, wowie-wow-wow!” Gabby tweeted while wiggling about with excitement much like a foal who had been informed they were going to get some ice cream. “You said you did a lot of super cool things with Twilight and friends in The Crystal Empire, but you never told me that you were a hero and had your own statue!”
“Well,” the proud dragon stated while raising his head and cracking his knuckles. “I really do try not to brag. I only did what any other creature would do in the same situation.”
“He really is as humble as they say,” an approaching voice stated with awe.
“I just can’t believe he is here,” marveled another voice that sounded even closer than the first.
Spike and Gabby turned to see that a growing crowd of Crystal ponies had started to gather around them and the massive crystal statue that celebrated how Spike: The Brave & Glorious[/i] had helped save The Crystal Empire from the vile King Sombra.
“Can you tell us the story of how you brought peace between ponies and changelings?” a pale-blue, Crystal Earth Pony asked with hopeful expectation.
“I want to hear our hero sing the anthem for Cloudsdale!” a soft-green coated, Crystal Unicorn enthusiastically requested.
Gabby was giggling with how delighted she was to be with such a recognized hero of so many ponies.
“And I’m bestest pen pals with the one and only brave and glorious, Spike!” she loudly tweeted before wrapping her hands around the praised purple dragon and pulling him in for a hug.
BWARP!
Gabby, having not considered her own strength, squeezed Spike to where he let out an involuntary belch of green fire.
“SPIKE!” a familiar voice welcomed from above where he, Gabby, and a growing herd of Crystal Ponies had gathered.

“I can’t believe it!” gasped Gabby as she abruptly released Spike from her tight hug upon becoming completely awestruck over seeing The Crystal Princess elegantly land between Spike and herself. “Princess cadence?”
The alicorn princess, whose coat was a soft-pink color, seemed uncertain on how to react to the gawking griffon before her.
“Hiya, Cadence!” Spike confidently greeted without showing any sign of bother upon being unceremoniously dropped upon the ground by his griffon friend. “Allow me to introduce you to Gabriella Griffon. She’s the official mail courier of Griffonstone and the best pen pal you could ever ask for.”
Cadence felt more relaxed knowing that Spike was friends with the far more whimsical than grumpy griffon that now stood surrounded by dozens of Crystal Ponies.
“Gabby, ‘kay!” the arctic-grey colored griffon chirped while seeming to hop her way to formally introduce herself to The Crystal Princess.
Cadence’s eyes quickly darted towards Spike, who responded by providing her a confident nod of approval, before she lowered her alicorn wings so she could welcome Gabby to The Crystal Empire.
“Ah-bay!” a young voice squeaked once Cadence’s wings had fully come to rest alongside the barrel of her body. “Burb!”
“Oh, my tailfeathers!” squeaked Gabby upon spotting Princess Flurry Heart playfully holding onto her mother’s back. “She’s… so… adorable!”
The ponies who had gathered around started to disperse. Some figured that Princess Cadence would be occupying all of Spike’s time while others either knew they had other business to attend to, or were taken aback by the strange creature and her over-the-top mannerisms.
BUMP
Gabby found herself stopped by Spike’s arm pushing against her chest.
“Hold up, Gabby,” he said. “I don’t think that Flurry Heart is ready for all of your griffony sunshine just yet.”
The mail delivery griffon felt a blush form across her cheeks as she noticed how both Cadence and Flurry were looking at her with wide eyes and raised wings.
“Oh…,” she bashfully stated while raising a hand to her beak and letting out a nervous laugh. “I get a bit carried away sometimes.”
Cadence lowered her wings and assumed a less defensive stance.
“You’ll have to forgive us,” said the crystal princess. “Griffons don’t often visit us here in the empire. Even I have only met about a handful of griffons to this day.”
“Awee!” babbled Flurry as she wriggled against the safety harness she had been fastened into. “Burb, momma! Want burb!”
It was now Cadence’s turn to blush as her daughter innocently demanded to be set free of her flight seat so that she could better get to know the creature before them.
“I’m sorry,” she apologized while looking between her daughter and Gabby. “Would you mind if she came over to say hello to you, Miss Gabriella?”
“Mind?” chirped the griffon with enthusiastic surprise. “Oh, I don’t mind at all!”
PUMPF-RUSTLE
Gabby did not have a chance to let her excitement get the best of her, because Spike still had his arm held firmly over her chest like a toll gate.
“Remember,” the purple dragon said with a slight nod of his head.
Gabby nodded her head and giggled.
“Oh, my,” she replied. “I get a bit carried away sometimes.”
FWOO
Cadence enveloped her daughter with her magical aura, used her telekinesis to free the baby alicorn from the flight seat, and levitated Flurry Heart towards the eager, young griffon.
“I’m sorry,” she seemed to inquire while making sure Flurry was safely being held in Gabby’s arms. “What was it that brought you two to The Crystal Empire?
“Aren’t you just the cutest, little foal!” the mail delivery griffon cooed while moving her wings in to cuddle the pink-coated princess. “Can you say, ‘Gabby’? That’s my name. Gabby.”
Spike realized that his griffon friend had her entire focus on Flurry. So, being the ‘#1 Assistant’ that he was, the emerald-eyed dragon reached into Gabby’s mail sack to retrieve the overdue package.
“This was supposed to be delivered yesterday,” he said while walking up towards cadence. “Gabby here works part time at the Ponyville post office and was asked to bring this to The Crystal Empire.”
“You don’t say,” Cadence replied with a smile. “This must be what has Sunburst all worked up.”
Spike held the package so that he could read the shipping information.
“I see,” he replied thoughtfully. “Seems this is from Starlight to Sunburst.”
“Whee! Cried Flurry while laughing with delight.
“Woo, woo, woosh!” Gabby playfully tweeted as she zipped and swooped around the giant stature of Spike. “Who’s a little Wonderbolt? You are!”
Cadence was starting to get a bit worried for her daughter’s safety. Spike picked up on this and put a claw upon the crystal princess’ side.
“Gabby’s not like other griffons,” he assured.
“I see…,” she replied while seeing her daughter smiling from ear-to-ear as she giddily wiggled her back legs and flapped her oversized, feathery wings. “This is certainly not the way I ever would have imagined a griffon to behave.”SWOOP!

PAT-TI-TICK
The arctic-grey colored griffon performed an expert landing that was highlighted by a squealing Flurry Heart who appeared so thrilled with her time spent with the bird-like mail courier.
“You are just such a cutie-patootie!” cheered Gabby as she nuzzled her beak against Flurry Heart’s nose. “I could just play with you forever!”
“What about your delivery?” asked Spike while lifting the parcel up into Gabby’s line of sight. “We should really get this to Sunburst soon so that we can fly back before it gets dark out.”
“Oh!” gasped Gabby as she lowered her head and sighed. “I guess I just got too carried away again.”
Princess Cadence noticed how Gabby had become saddened by how her impromptu playdate with Flurry was coming to an end.
“Gabriella,” she said. “Sunburst is actually with Prince Shining Armor back at the castle. Perhaps you’d like to help me bring Flurry home to her father on your way to delivering Sunburst’s package?”
“Would I?” the giddy griffon beamed. “Would I? I’d love to!”
FLA-FLAP
FWOOSH!
“YAHOO!” cheered Gabby as she and Flurry quickly took to the sky and sped towards the castle.
“Is she always like this?” Cadence asked with disbelief and concern.
Spike shrugged as he unfurled his wings.
“Yep,” he answered while securing the package against his side. “Like you said, she is definitely not like what you’d expect from a griffon.”
