“…And you’re absolutely sure that you won’t change your mind?” Shining Armor, the Unicorn prince of The Crystal Empire pleaded.
An orangish-yellow coated Unicorn nervously adjusted his eyeglasses.
“I’ve already promised Starlight that I’d help her with The School of Friendship,” he replied with a hint of frustration in his voice. “She’s counting on me to make sure the school continues to thrive now that Princess twilight has become the ruler of all Equestria.”
SHING
The white-coated prince used his magic to levitate his daughter’s favorite stuffed snail friend, Whammy, in front of the bespectacled stallion.
“Pwease, Sunboiste,” he said in a foalish voice while bobbing the well-loved plushie in front of Sunburst’s face. “Wittle fury wuvs you so much and will miss you lots and lots!”
“WHAMMY!” a high-pitched voice cried from somewhere above where the two Unicorns were having their discussion.

Shining Armor and Sunburst were both startled by the sudden appearance of a young adult griffon landing in front of them.
“HIYA!” chirped Gabby. “Little miss cutie-patoottie seemed super excited about something and I just had to see what it was!”
“…,” Shining Armor and Sunburst said nothing as their mouths hung open with surprise.
“SUNNY!” Flurry Heart squealed with delight as she leapt from Gabby’s back and used her oversized, alicorn wings to launch herself at the scholarly Unicorn.
PUMPF!
Sunburst was knocked back as the foal wrapped herself around his muzzle in a tight embrace.
“Flurry…?” awed Shining Armor as he regained his composure. “You are…?”
Gabby was taken aback by how the white-coated Unicorn was now looking at her.
“Umm…,”Any creature expecting a package from Ponyville?”
SHING
Sunburst used his magic to gently remove the foal from his face, levitate her to his back, and lift Whammy into her playful embrace.
“A package…?” he asked while using a hoof to put his glasses back in place. “Are you the mail courier from Ponyville?”
The arctic-grey colored griffon felt all her anxiety melt away upon being recognized as an employee of the EquestrianPostal Service.
“That’s me!” she tweeted cheerfully while reaching for her messenger bag. “Are you Sunburst?”
The goateed Unicorn moved closer to the gleeful griffon.
“That’s me,” he replied.
FLA-CLICK
“Sign here, please!” she enthusiastically stated while just barely missing Sunburst’s nose with the clipboard she had just pulled from her bag.

Sunburst reflexively used his magic to take the attached quill to sign for the package being delivered to him.
“Thank you!” cheered Gabby as she signed her part of the delivery document before slipping the clipboard back into her courier bag and quickly bringing out the package for Sunburst to take. “It must be something super important since it was supposed to be sent ‘Same Day Air’. Though, I do need to apologize for it being a day late due to the Pegasus who was supposed to deliver it yesterday making a little oopsie and that is why I’m delivering it to you now.”
Shining Armor and sunburst exchanged a look as the courier griffon nervously laughed after having completed her statement that came off more like an unintelligible run-on sentence.
“Hello down there!” called Princess Cadence as she and Spike flew into the royal library. It was one of the largest and tallest rooms in the entire castle. This is where she had been before being made aware of ponies gathering in front of the monument that celebrated Spike: The Brave & Glorious[/i].

“Yo, big bro!” cheered Spike as he swooped down and landed beside his older brother. “Man it is sure sweet to be an official part of the family after all these years.”
Princess Cadence smiled as she took a moment to nuzzle her husband.
SHING
“Whee!” cheered Flurry Heart as her mother used her magic to teleport the alicorn toddler from the back of Sunburst’s back and onto her own.
“Speaking of family,” she said as little Flurry crawled up to play with her mother’s tricolored mane. “I know I speak on behalf of the empire when I say how the palace just won’t be the same without you, Sunburst.”
The orangish-yellow coated unicorn did all he could to not throw a fit over how he was beyond fed up with all of Shining Armor’s previous attempts to guilt him into going back on his promise to assist Starlight Glimmer run The School of Friendship.
“…,” an awkward silence came upon the group as Cadence, through her special talent for being able to pick up on other creature’s emotions, glared towards her husband.
“…,” Shining Armor only gulped and lowered his head upon being called out by his wife for overdoing the begging and pleading for Sunburst to reconsider his decision to move to Ponyville.
“Ahem,” hummed Spike as he nudged Gabby with his elbow.
“Huh?” she wondered until her eyes focused down upon the package she was still holding in her claws. “Oh! Right! Here you go, sir! Another successful and speedy delivery by Griffonstone’s best mail courier and Cutie Mark Crusader!
SHING
The scholarly Unicorn used his magic to take hold of the parcel that had been sent to him by the newly appointed Head Mare of The School of Friendship.
“I still wonder what Starlight thought was so important that it couldn’t wait until I arrived in Ponyville next week?” he pondered while trying to use one of his spells to detect what was stored within the thoroughly taped box.
“Only one way to find out…,” urged Gabby while leaning in to get a closer look at what she had brought to the robed unicorn. “Open it! Open it!”
YOINK
The super-excited, mail griffon turned to see that Spike was tugging upon her courier bag.
“We should probably get going,” the purple-scaled dragon suggested. “We won’t make it home before the sun sets if we stay much longer.”
Pi]SHING
POOF[/i]
The bespectacled unicorn used the distraction to teleport the package back to his workshop within the castle.
“Don’t be like that, little bro,” Shining Armor stated while trotting up towards the green-spiked dragon. “Twi’ can go without you for a day.”
“Yes,” added Cadence with a smile. “And it would be our pleasure to give a more proper welcome to the first envoy of Griffonstone to visit The Crystal Empire since its triumphant return in over 1,000 years.”
“Oh!” awed Gabby as she enthusiastically flapped her wings at her sides much like a foal who just couldn’t wait to get their hooves on a cookie. “I’ve never been an envoy before!”
Sunburst breathed a sigh of relief now that the attention had shifted from him to Gabby and Spike.
“If you’ll all excuse me,” he said with a slight bow. “I have a few matters of state to take care of before the day is through.”
“Sunny!” cried Flurry Heart. “Miss you.”
SHING
“Oh, sweetheart,” cooed Cadence while wrapping up her daughter in a special aura that she had created to both hold and soothe the foal princess. “Sunburst will be back with us at dinner this evening.”
“In the meantime…,” Gabby eagerly said while barely containing her excitement as countless thoughts and ideas ran through her mind. “Do you think it would be okay if I got to spend some more time with baby Flurry Heart?”
WHO-FLAP
FLAP-CLI-TICK
“BURB!” the jovial foal proclaimed while launching herself towards Gabby’s face and wrapping herself around the ever happy, mail delivery griffon.
Shining Armor, Cadence, and Spike all laughed as Gabby attempted to speak while delicately moving her claws up to detach the young alicorn that was now giggling as she stared in wonder into Gabby’s green eyes.
“Silly, burb,” the young princess babbled while seeing if she could hug her new friend with her down-soft, supersized, alicorn wings.
CRINKLE-CRINKLE
POP!
“Wow!” the arctic-grey colored griffon remarked as she used Flurry Heart’s diaper to safely grip the attached tot from her beak. “That’s quite a grip you got there!”
Flurry wriggled about while gleefully babbling and making raspberries with her tongue.
“She’s really taken to you,” awed Cadence. “Perhaps you’d like to help us play her out before she takes her afternoon nap?”
“Would I?” Gabby squeaked with joy as she started to flitter her wings and rock herself with delight. “Of course I would!”
PBBBFFFTTTT!
“Gwee-hee-hee!” Flurry laughed as playful griffon blew raspberries upon her tummy.

POOF!
“…,” Spike, Cadence, and shining Armor were all left surprised by the sudden disappearance of Gabby and Flurry. However it was not long before the sound of their cheerful laughing and carrying on could be heard echoing in from a nearby room in the castle.
“I almost forgot she could teleport,” stated Spike.
Shining Armor and Princess Cadence looked at each other and shrugged.
FWOOF!
“Well,” said the alicorn princess as she unfurled her wings. “Looks like we are starting our fun with a bit of hide-and-seek in the castle.”
WHOOSH
FWUP-FLAP
FLA-WHOOSH!
“Hey!” griped Shining Armor as he soon found himself alone. “Not all of us have wings, you know!”
CLA-CLOP
SHING
BA-WUMF
Shining Armor gallantly leapt over the railing, used his magic to conjure a protective bubble around himself, and safely reached the floor below before galloping after his wife and baby brother.
POOF!
“Alright!” Sunburst proclaimed upon teleporting himself back to where everyone had just been gathered. “Seems that Starlight thought we’d want to play ‘Dragon Pit Jr.’ with Flurry and…”
The goateed unicorn trailed off upon realizing he was presenting what Starlight had sent him to no pony at all.
“Oh, well,” he sighed as a blush formed on his face. “I might as well head back into my workshop and get the place ready for my replacement.”
