It's very possible and more than likely that the Doom armor was also inspired by anime and other militaristic games, but the chest piece definitely made me think Doom Guy right away (https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/025/041/901/large/jason-martin-slayer-2016-full-body.jpg?1584395470). Either way it's a fantastic design and I love the incorporation of the external armor tethers and padding!
