And here is my new monkey boi’s reference sheet! His design, clothes wise, was probably my biggest struggle since I am in no way creative with clothing designs for OCs, but after a few trials, I ended up with this, his final design. Now onto a bit about this mischievous primate:

Personality
Even before meeting The Sixed Eared Macaque, this monkey was already a bit of a troublemaker. Lei Shen, or just Shen, is just as sharp tongued and crafty as his mentor, having been taught by the best. Quick on his feet and always eager to pick a “friendly” fight or two, his sometimes brash nature can be a small reminder this simian is still rather young, despite how he carries himself. However, unlike a certain shadow monkey, Shen doesn’t like to spend a lot of time to himself, seeming to always be in close proximity to people, if only to poke his nose in their business. He knows how to push people’s buttons and maintains a familiar smug look while doing so. Although, anti-hero persona aside, he’s just an incredibly curious and social adolescent, secretly seeking out a group he feels he can bond with.

Extra Misc Fact(s)
• Just before a storm arrives, Shen’s fur will poof right up, which can make him look like a giant brown puffball.
• Rose apples to Shen are what peaches are to Wukong. He can never seem to get enough of the bell shaped fruit. His addiction has bestowed upon him the nickname “Rose Bud” oh-so graciously by Macaque. He hates it and Macaque knows he does.
• The pin on his belt with Macaque’s insignia was gifted to him during New Years. It was a reward for doing so well in training and Shen has taken it as a sign of friendship from his mentor. (Shen totally doesn’t see Macaque as a father figure, what?)
• Given that he is a spider monkey, it’s no surprise his tail is used a fifth limb. His favorite thing to use it for is stealing food without anyone noticing.
• The symbol on his clothes is the Chinese word for “Lightning“ or “Electric”.
• Ever since he began training with Macaque, some of his powers gained some shadow-like qualities, mainly in terms of color. Additionally, he learned how to make portals, hide in shadows, and create clones.
• Shen has a frenemy thing going on with MK’s crew. He enjoys pestering them or having a quick scuffle, mainly with Mei or Red Son. But, he also chills with them from time to time. Be it video games, cooking, having tea, or hearing stories about his mentor, sometimes he also just enjoys their company.
• When Shen starts to become frustrated, annoyed, or angry, thunder will start to sound in the distance that will get louder and closer the worse it gets. This can be accompanied by darkening clouds and even lightning if he’s ticked off enough.
• Has a habit of hanging upside down from high places when he’s bored or thinking deeply, claiming it helps him.
• May or may not have accidentally destroyed a small chunk of the wall at Pigsy’s Noodles. What he assumed was a “massive cockroach“ was actually a small squid ink stain left behind by a messy child. At least he saved MK the trouble of cleaning it. Shen swears up and down he saw it move. It didn’t.
• Just as much of a dramatic theater (smugass) kid as Macaque. There’s two of them now y’all.
