''..., it is well known that the exiles in the snow covered north-east shape and animate bones and husks of (very scarce, I should note) local wildlife as they see fit for their purposes. One type of such constructs is often sent on scouting endeavors, tasked with locating potential dangers or sources of food and material. After a set period of time they spend wandering the wastes, they return to a moving fortress in which they were created (it seems they have no trouble finding their path, no matter how far one might have wandered from the other), and share their knowledge with their creators (the exact details of how this is done I was never told, so I can only speculate that some kind of a link exists between them). Although they are technically animated dead, and as such completely obedient to their masters, they sometimes seem to adopt ''personality'' quirks, a sort of curiosity that, while it isn't exactly sentience, makes it easier to forget that one is dealing with an unnatural abomination. Of course, I found their presence profoundly disturbing, ...''
