It's sometimes more disturbing when something has been added, than when something has been taken.
Just playing around with some ideas. I think everyone who turns others to stone has a collection like this in the making somewhere...those who it would be inconvenient if they were found, or those who have special meaning.
Done for the Thursday Prompt, first entry I've had for a little while. I thought it said "Taken", not "Taker", so...not quite right, maybe. Take from it what you'd like. But something taken would have a taker, wouldn't it? Does something left have a lever? :>

With stealing something, the motive is straightforward; the thief wants what they took.
Leaving something? The only motivation they could have is to fuck with you; they're showing that they can get into your home and do whatever the fuck they want, and that they have some bone to pick with you via this kind of psychological warfare.
A theft feels like a one-off incident; they got what they came for.
Leaving something behind carries the possibility that things might just escalate.
