very nice, I love how even the snow has some character about it, not just little blobs. I also love that background, especially liking the brush strokes on the tree back there as well as the highlights on the raven :) Beautifully done!

how did you make the highlights on the feathers like that. Whenever I try my colors blend and don't look very clear. (using watercolor)

What a majestic and handsome corvid fellow! Totally love this. The fluffy crisp snow effects and the downy-soft texturing of his plumage is absolutely EXQUISITE. You can almost FEEL the bitter icy chill and SEE the ruffle of feathers and the dance of snowflakes as the wind howls. Your skill with traditional media never ceases to amaze me. =D

It's still good stuff. :D Probably even better if it was digital. I love the feel of dry paint on a real canvas (even if it's a wooden board). o3o

This is so absolutely gorgeous. The winter theme plays with my heart as I love winter and he's such a cute little character! Keep up the most fantastic work. I really need to get back into traditional media. I find digital so hard to work with.

This is a very beautiful picture you've made! This is really impressive.

Snow, Snow. Corn? Kettle, kettle!

This is wonderful work. I really like the restricted palette, the lighting, all of the textures, and how you've captured the snow so realistically. And those ruff feathers are superb! Instant favourite.

The best part is the raven's colours and highlights matching the colours of the environment! Even so, are there hints of blue in the background I see? The more 'painted' look of the trees actually work positively in the picture, I see. The raven itself is painted with a beautiful, slightly-detailed realism. (Also, I really-really like his shiny feathers!) Even so, the way it looks at us while smiling, all while walking gives him a sort of humanised animation not commonly seen in these realistic type of pictures!

The poem, however, seems to throw this idea upside-down. I mean, who did the raven lose?
