This is a frame taken from the current page of my Xerian comic, showing the Synth protagonist meeting a couple of artificially intelligent fighter jets, who are fascinated by the fact that he has a visor.

Left to right we have Ross, Farlane and Sergei, with the cyberjag Lautrec and Xerian the Synth in the foreground.
Since aircraft are a pain to draw I originally rendered these with Truespace 2.0 and handed that to Merlin to use a reference. (This is also why Farlane rarely appears in the comic - drawing him is a nuisance)
Xerian and Lautrec were a bit too small in the original, fortunately I was able to rescale the original lines while keeping the quality up.

It's been too long to be sure, but I think I came up with the blackmetal armour thing for aircraft and adapted it for the cyberjags later.
I came up with this whole scenario for the aircraft as a kid and never did much with it because I couldn't think of a decent story. I used parts of it in my RPG (development stalled again while I finish the "Let's Break Ultima 9" video series) and then kind of did a crossover into Project Future. Part of me still thinks that was a mistake, and I should have just used the panthers, but I'm stuck with it now.
The Sukhoi model was actually the lowest-res one and I had to do a fair bit of retouching, e.g. the nose cone was all wrong. I'm not even sure which variant it was...
