Today is special.
Today is special because you get to learn something about me.
I’m a very down to earth person, who favors reason over emotion and tries to act as maturely as I can. I like to think things over, weight consequences and take the best decisions I can. I’m also extremely in control of my emotions, to the point of almost being insensitive. I could go on, but this isn’t the point I want to make.
I have pet peeves with certain behaviors people have, especially in the fandoms I’m more or less involved in.
I hate when people describe themselves as “crazy”, “random” or “weird”. It annoys me deeply. I always interpret it as “I have no distinct personality, so I’ll go out of my way to be appreciated/noticed”. People doing crazy/random/weird things can be quirky and charming, but as soon as you label yourself as such, it loses all meaning, and you just sound pretentious, desperate and yearning for attention. In my opinion. Don’t do it.
Another thing I can’t stand is people with “free hugs” signs. There are always a few in furry cons, but they mostly swarm at anime cons. You’ll have this random dude or dudette brandishing this sign, and it bugs me so much. I won’t hug you. I don’t know you and you didn’t give me any reason, sincere or even ironic, to hug you. Once again, I interpret these as cries for attention. And lots of germs. Don’t do it.
Specifically to the furry fandom, I really don’t like when people emulate their fursona without reason. It makes me cringe when people meowl or crawl or whatever without some kind of reason behind it. I don’t think it’s cute, I think it’s retarded. Don’t.
So that’s a piece of me. You can see why I wanted a picture with that slogan. I just want to surround myself with people being themselves. We’re all humans, capable of not acting like twats.

ah but as much as these people annoy you>
andddd, highly (100%) likley that others feel this way too.
it swerves the other way to feed that some people find how others moan and can't be accepting irritating.
and can be offended.
the best thing is to ignore. your in the furry fandom. you can't change them

I agree with you stripes but there is a "Free Hugs" foundation that is made because there is hardly any human interaction in public. It's to unify the earth as one family. Though it is not appropriate at cons, it is made for busy cities, malls and places like that. But people take it as an attention scene yes, but the true meaning behind it is the foundation.
Yeah. Yeah....
I'm not for using those signs like such, but I do have a Free Hugs button that I wear around in public occasionally. Mostly, I mind my own business, and its other people who see the button and come up to me and hug me. I've met some pretty awesome strangers that way, gotten some awesome hugss, and gotten into interesting conversations.
Maybe you don't like that sort of interaction either. Or maybe it's not that you don't like people with free hugs signs, but rather people who come up with excuses to glom onto other people without their permission, and that the convention community almost-sort of condones this? Because hey -- I like free hugs. And I do not like when people think they just have the absolute right to touch me. Or try to grope me. Or follow me to my room while I am explicitly telling them that I'm not interested, stop following me, I'm leaving. :P (Happened last FC with a group of guys in one room at the hotel.)

normally i dont randomly comment and instead id rather lurk, but in this comment, i have to disagree with you on the free hugs thing. some people really do need a good hug to feel better, and it's a hella lot easier to walk up to a person with a free hugs sign and hug them instead of a random person off the street
Finally something I can relate towrds
I have noticed that a lot the furry fandom, the free hugs and the desperate cries for attention notably, and I have said to many friends and people, "why put yourself in position where you'll regret it later," and it is me who comes off as insecure and homophobic Seriously, why? Why put yourself in a position with a complete strange where it could compromising or something that can be creepy?
I love attention as much as the next person, but no, not at random. Your right, there are a lot of desperate cries out there for sure. This I get most definitely.
You know it was put to me once that perhaps if people in certain fandom cared enough about themselves in certain facets (e.g. hygiene, appearance, etc) then perhaps they wouldn't have the issues they are having and stop peeving most of us here So sad they grew up and were deprived of this and that, but oh well, shit happens, that doesn't mean then act like a fucktard

This is true. You really do have together in many ways, especially your preferences and such. I cannot tell you how many times certain people find out about a straight fur and it has come where imminent conversion coming into play Seriously folks?
It fine with me in whom you like, I understand completely, probably sometimes too well
Overall you are pretty conservative guy in the way of not getting in ones face about stuff But I am certain if we needed to talk we could if something was going on

...most of this is agreeable, i dislike hugs in general, so i dislike people with free hug signs, i also dislike people who "meow" and the like, i'm a furry, and i don't find it hot, sexy, cute or anything...if at all i think a little retarded. i wouldn't have ever guessed you and me share those kinds of piss offs XD
Ah, I must not have uttered it around you then. I have had for years the habit of some strange and perhaps unique language patterns, I suppose you would say. "Awah", which can substitute in for just about any word, seems to be particularly viral around people who are around me long enough. Also, I tend to add "neighs" or now "maah" to some sentences, both online and off. "You can't do that, neighs!" "Maaah.... forget about it." As spoken english, the onomatopeia (spelling, I'm sure) makes zero sense at all, but it's just a habit now (and a cue to others perhaps about what aspect is at the front of my mind at the moment.) "Awah... I love ya." "Neighs..... it's not all bad." Best I can explain it, really. Hence, I have fallen on the bad side of a couple people who can't stand folks who meow if they're a cat, bark if they're a dog, etc... I personally do not know when I picked up these habits, for lack of a better word, but they're very much ingrained into me, and some might even say part of my personality by now. I don't know. ><
But, that's my story. :) I's just a ram, anyhow. ;)

I agree with this part really much:

I don't like people acting like a 5 y/o retarded kid, especially in public, I think I just don't like grown people acting like kids in general, can't we be furry and not socially akward? o.o *ish prepared to get drama*

At FF this year I was trying to order a turkey club in the dining room and the waitress could not hear me because some tard was yiffing at the top of his lungs in the table to the left of me, I had to practically scream my order out while glaring at the lil tardo in my best "Please shut the fuck up" face I could muster.
