Personality: Valentine can be a rather controversial individual. For his crewmates and fellow pirates, he can be a rather charming, pleasant, yet gigantic individual. Someone always breaking the tension in a room with a healthy dose of sarcasm or a witty quip with his deep booming voice. He's also a rather educated pirate when compared to his peers, using his intellect and persuasion to win over the hearts and minds of not just his crewmembers, but the Republic of Pirates as as well. That being said, it's a different story to those outside of the piracy sphere, especially those that have fallen victim to one of his raids. Many people point out he fails to show the "liberty and freedom" that the Republic of Pirates boast about constantly when it comes to those he captures in his raids. Often times being ruthless with passengers and crewmembers to extract information and constantly domineering and teasing those he captures for ransom.
Bio: Valentine was born in the Bahamas during what is now known today as the "Golden Age of Piracy". Growing up in very unpleasant conditions in the port city of Nassau, he eventually escaped poverty by joining up with the privateers that filled the town and port. It was here his hate for authoritarian leaders seemed to begin, as him and the rest of his crew were led by a captain who ruled them with an iron fist. Valentine would spend his downtime reading books he managed to sneak out of the captain's room, properly educating himself and spreading his ideas among the crew. Eventually, the crew had enough and with Valentine's planning, they revolted against the captain. The crew then got together and decided to elect the Valentine as the new captain. Afterall, it was him that organized the plot to overthrow his predecessor. Once becoming Captain Atwater, he set off making himself a very popular pirate captain. Loot was properly distributed among the crewmembers, living conditions were improved, and a fine balance was found between maintaining order and allowing his crew the freedom to do what they liked. Back in Nassau, the situation deteriorated rapidly after numerous captains were overthrown, and eventually the Republic of Pirates was declared, with Valentine becoming a member of the Council of Captains.
Valentine found great success in the region of what is now considered the Bermuda Triangle. Not only was he able to raid lots of ships in the region, but he also managed to harness the region's mysterious nature, discovering that entering specific areas allowed for time travel and raid ships and coastal towns and cities from future eras. How he managed to find this out is a mystery, as the captain and crew have swore an oath of silence on the issue to protect their territory. Now it should be no surprise that a ship from the 17th to 18th century would struggle taking on ships in future like ocean liners, cargo ships, and cruise liners, but Valentine has a secret that gives him a quite literally massive upper hand. At some point during a raid, Valentine's crew were able to uncover a peculiar artifact from an unknown location in the Americans. This artifact gave the user the ability to change their size at a whim. Valentine quickly decided to put this new ability to good use and start raiding larger ships by simply swimming under them and then growing large enough to where he's able to immobilize the ship and allow for his crew to board, sometimes allowing his crewmembers to become the big ones so he can board the ships himself. This new ability plus his already enormous size led him to develop a new pirate name by his victims that he quickly embraced, largely based on the fact his middle initial was a "T". Here's hoping you're careful next time you decide to sail or take a cruise, as if you aren't careful then you could end up in the very large hands (or between the very large feet) of "The Titan"...
