Honestly, becoming one of the monsters for these riders doesn’t even seem that bad a punishment for failure. Sure, your human life is done and you serve under a master now, but plenty of Monster Hunter monsters are awesome and capable, such as the mizutsune in this example. The old life may be done, but the new life has a lot going for it.
