On September 9th, 1998, Insomniac games created a video game that soon become one of Sony Playstation’s best franchises of all time: Spyro the dragon, the adventures of a purple fella and his partner Sparx the dragonfly, as he explores the land of dragons and beyond, while helping those in need and battle bad guys that cause chaos.
Since that day his first adventure was created, it was followed with plenty of games, some good, others not. Along with Crash Bandicoot, together they became the Playstation’s best franchises that compete against the likes of Microsoft and Nintendo.
And in 2018, Toys for Bob created the Reignited Trilogy, who brought back our favorite dragon to his full glory, after nearly a decade since his last game.
And now that Microsoft acquired Activision this year and the XBOX team permitted the development houses to work whatever they have in mind with all the franchises Activision owns including Spyro and Crash, who knows what new adventures await for our brave purple dragon.
Until then, this 2022, Spyro’s 24 years old, and us, his loyal fans have the rights to celebrate his nearly 25th anniversary.
With all of his friends here, we wish you, Spyro a very happy birthday, and hope in the future we see more of you.
