I seem to attract critters who are a bit down on their luck. He's cheerfully exploring the house as we speak. :)

Ditto with me. Husky Wolf mix that was about to be put down and then a Parakeet that had been left in a home that someone just walked away from during the 2008 housing market collapse - 2 birds in cage found by an agent of the lender. Stepmom had them both for a while then had to separate them - 2 males - siblings. I ended up with the bad boy one - Had him to 2016 - was about 4 years old in 2008

He's still a bit skittish with me. To be expected, as I was scritching him and playing nice at the shelter, then helped stuff him into a cat carrier...

Hehe, the evil cat carrier. One retail center I worked security at had a cat and small animal adoption center that was operated by the local shelter. Kittens in one area and adult cats in what looked like a living room - furniture donated by one of the stores. Was great for finding homes for cats. Over a 2 year period they placed over 600 cats. I remember one very portly grey cat that basically filled a cardboard cat carrier - cat weighed 29 pounds - big grey meatloaf. I ended carrying him out to the new owner's car - the woman had her hands full with a very hyper young daughter who had picked out the cat - Hugo aka Huge -O

(grin) Ko-ko is rapidly adapting. He's at the point where he'll venture into my room, make a comment then duck out again when I turn to talk to him. Apart from some growling and hissing, Norma is also adapting. :)

Sounds like things are working out nicely then.

Yeah. He's got the litter box and food dishes figured out, so that's the main part right now. :)

The all importants with cats. With my crew its the Kitchen and Great Hall and then the privy and chamber pots - tech level of my cast and crew is mid 1700s - pre industrial with some magic thrown in -- flintlocks and sorcery

Yeah! Bit of growling and hissing as Norma establishes her Alpha position, and Ko-Ko is a tad skittish around me as, after being nice-nice at the shelter, I helped stuff him in the cat carrier for the trip home, but things should settle down after a couple of days. :D

Glad he's there and they're getting along. I worry if I get a second what will happen. Maxx came from the Rodgers Humane Society so he'd hopefully be good around a second kitty if I got one. Good On yas for giving him a home 🍻
