I learned about this halberd on a book I got a few years ago. It has illustration of many different type of melee weapons all over the world. Apparently someone named Li Chun-kao (李存考) from the era Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period (907AD－979AD) invented this.
This is what Deathspank would say "A weapon of truly made for heroic actions!" or something along that line with the word "Heroic"

Yeah, imagine if this thing doesn't stick its opponent or slice, then getting smashed or tangled by the ball 'n' chain would be deadly too.
Because Zhao is a heroic character so heroic that she can use any heroic looking weapon (except for things way too heavy like the Crouching Tiger moment).

Thanks Jim. And you are right on questioning the weapon's practicality value. Because there is so little record about "Chaos Halberd" and only one well known warrior ever used this thing. We can only assume that this thing is too complex for almost everyone.
Heck, even Lu Bu the mightiest warrior of Three Kingdom era used a halberd with only 2 blade (that kinda halberd is called "Square halberd").

Hehe. Chinese halberd can be considered a lighter (thus more versatile) version of Swiss halberd. Got a nasty slashing power to boot, can snare weapon like a trident. Its a weapon excel both on defense and offense. Thus its Lu Bu's favorite weapon.
