It was with great shock and sorrow I met the news of Queen Elizabeth II's passing. With childish naivety, I almost sometimes believed she would live forever. She was such a figure of courage and strength in the face of good times, and of adversity; a role model and someone I can only hope to be like in terms of dignity and grace.

I've never done art of a modern ship, so I own up to any and all errors here. I did my best considering I wanted this out ASAP instead of lingering and erasing moot details over and over. Nor did I want to spend the time agonizing over her character design, so I have done what I can to incorporate her much different bridge into her figure. I like to think it looks a little like a crown.
What I hope to convey here is the sense of tragedy many of us have felt. Why I picked Cunard's RMS Queen Elizabeth is because Her Majesty named and christened this particular ocean liner - among many. As her namesake, I wanted to imagine how the ship would feel; the mother and grandmother figure to her nation gone forever.
The weather is stormy - this is to emulate England's weather and to also create a sombre mood. Yet the sea is calm to represent the British spirit of "keeping calm" and "carrying on." The light glow on the horizon is to show the hope of sadness to someday end and for life to become brighter again - some day.
