"The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.”
“Whisper! What are you-“ He was immediately hushed as something came flying past his face, leaving a bright red, painful mark on the left side of his face, “The hell?!”
He glanced down and saw what apparently to be a stick with a pointed edge at his foot-
He glanced back up at her and saw a finger at her mouth, shushing him. Her fiery, lavender eyes glowed in the darkness. Before she could say anything, she noticed a light come on from the nearby building- she quickly flattened her body against the branch of the tree. Her feline nature truly came out at times as he realized she almost camouflaged into the tree! He then put two and two together and realized he was compromising the mission with his big mouth: oops. His face turned another shade of red as he jumped into the nearby bushes, trying to be as still as possible. They remained motionless for about 20, 30 minutes until the lights went off once more.
“Baka!” She had somehow jumped from the tree and was standing behind him: he didn’t even see when she left the tree!!! He jumped up, but this time he suppressed screaming or speaking too loudly.
“You almost gave away our position. You should know better, rookie” with a disgusted sigh, she handed him some paperwork, along with a burlap bag. The bag was somewhat heavy and lumpy; he was curious to know what was in it. He started to open the bag only to have his hand slapped-
“I do not suggest you open that if you know what is good for you and your well-being. I will tell you what to do with it once we evacuate the premises,” She said with the most serious tone. He merely nodded and put it on his side. He felt like such a burden, but he couldn’t leave her; headquarters had ordered him to come along and assist her on this mission- whether she liked it or not. He was in training and needed a mentor to train him-
So this is why she prefers to work alone.
She climbed back up into the tree, ushering him to follow her. This time, he was ready and learned his lesson: he nodded and followed her up tree, making sure not to make any unnecessary noise. When they reached the top, she pointed at the nearby building, “We will strike at approximately 100: be ready. And most importantly, be quiet. There is minimal room for error here.” Her tone changed to a hushed, mellow tone- she almost seemed…happy.
Ah, so this was the wolfcat in her true habitat: kill-happy and ready to strike! He looked on in awe as he studied her, idly twirling the sword between her hands. Soon, they would strike and he would see firsthand how she operates, and hopefully learn from the best! He just hoped he would not screw up anything or make her upset-
Now for the hardest part: sit and wait.
Whisper was “voluntold” to take on a new trainee based on her glowing background and experience.
…or maybe it was because she ticked off her boss due to her reckless, extreme, kill-happy nature and he wanted a way to make her calm down and be held accountable. She reluctantly agreed to train the young student, on the condition he not jeopardize any of her missions.
Absolutely lovely piece from somnifer They are fairly new, but do some phenomenal art! Please go support them~
