Nelusco pilots the ship, but secretly plans to destroy the Europeans. He sings a ballad from the legend of Adamastor, the destructive sea giant. Nelusco issues orders that will steer the ship into the oncoming storm. De Gama has followed Don Pedro on another ship and begs him to change course to avoid being killed...
