A commission for The Old Grey Raccoon and Crystal of "The Raccoon's Bookshelf", of their furry selves chibified in a toothachingly cute fashion, organizing their fine collection.
I don't know what possessed me to write titles on so many of the books... Some of my favorites are: "Night of the Cephalopod", "Ooo... Shiny", "The Dangers of Jello", and "101 things to do with 101 things". Pure whimsy. The Hippie turtle was fun, too.
Sometimes I have entirely too much fun doing my job ^.^

There aren't really any in-jokes - just some that have strange sounding titles, and other titles sound like they are pretty normal. ^.^ I wanted to put titles on them, mostly so that they would look more like books - but then I had to think of titles, and I didn't want to name them all after real books so I got creative. Theres a few real book titles in there though.
You definitely show your professionalism and effort in this piece. It pretty much says all about your work in general: purchasing art through you is never a mistake and you will ALWAYS get your moneys worth and then some.
I was at the art store yesterday by the way, a commissioner asked me to work on Bristol or Illustration board. Now, I had no clue what I was looking for... turns out illustration board is just another name for paper <_< *laughs* I bought the Bristol though, the illu board only came in one size: humongous.
Anyway, why do I tell you this? I kept telling my partner: I need illustration board, no clue what it is, but Kacey uses it so it must be good.

Hee - thanks =D
Yeah, I try to create every piece I do as if I am going to display it in my home - so I don't stop adding to or changing it until I am pleased with it =).
And yeah - illustration board is like paper on cardboard, sortof - and it comes in sheets of 30"x40", but I have the art store cut it down to 9"x12" and 11"x14" pieces. Cold press illustration board is best - I use Crescent 300 or 310, as they are heavier. Cold press has a tooth to it, whereas Hot Press is really slick (hot press doesnt take colored pencils well at all).
The best thing about illustration board is that you can draw on it just like paper, but it can handle lots of water - so watercolors or acrylics wont warp the paper nearly as much as they do to Bristol.
I've started doing some paintings on Masonite, too, and that actually is a piece of wood, so its very different from paper.

Heh. Very cute here.
Hmm, I might think about commissioning a pic from ya... I'm just not sure what subject matter I'd pick, or what you're comfortable with...
=P Though some ideas I think I'll save for those more comfortable with blood and gore. No sense in squicking the artists, eh?
