Actually the odd thing is that it wasn't.
The pattern looks complex but when I was working on it I found out it was very simple :>

Impressive art for an amazing and absolutely magnificent beast is a pleasant sight to behold
The stripes look wonderful and almost blindingly deep blue which attracts the eye quite well
But i also wanna mention and adore the pose... he is like crouching and sneaking around
Sneaky dragon definitely a smart dragon
And i can only agree and support your point of view on his design - it is truly remarkable and unique and of course handsome. Like a slab of obsidian and ice with water met and created the union becoming this being

I was told by the owner that he is manly bipedal and asked for a pose similar to a dinosaur, I think it was a great choice.
I also love the contrast of the colors too ^^ then the 2 kinds of blues that make it look like it shining is very nice :D

Hmm even the walking mechanism of his dragon is unique
