As of September 2022, I've been drawing online for 10 years! To reminisce, I'm going back to look at every character I created since I started in 2012.

Now it's time for Emily, who a lot people may recognize.
Emily's history is pretty fascinating to me. She was initially just a weird Espeon design I came up with, and then I made her into a fox because I liked foxes and that was all. She had 0 personality, but then I decided to draw her into an old weight gain comic on a whim, and before I knew it she was one of my most popular characters. Once I realized how much people liked her, I decided to write her as the protagonist of Insight and she was basically my main OC for a while.
However, as I worked on Insight I began to struggle with what I wanted to do with her. I was starting to lose interest in drawing her in fetish situations, but since she had appeared in multiple fetish comics already, she was primarily seen as a fetish character and I had difficulty in drawing her in anything else. After a while I got burned out of Insight and I had no idea what I wanted to do with Emily; she just lingered in my gallery. I was upset because I felt like she was only popular because of the fetish art, and I felt like further development of her character would be pointless. I ultimately decided to give her away to a close friend, who had many ideas for her and still does. Now that she is not my character, I have no reason to be upset about her portrayal in anything. Instead, I was able to give her a happy ending in Insight. I can't think of a better send-off to a character. I am glad she is in a better place now.

I can only hope that my future OCs are able to impact others as well as Emily did, with or without the fetish content.
