Okay. The publication of the third book of Chakona stories entitled "Sunshine in your eyes" begins. This book completes the trilogy about Chakona, its inhabitants, the interaction of the chakats with some humans, skunktaurs and other races, such as the renzar and the rakshanis. All framed within the universe created by  goldfur It's been two years of continuous work and it's fair to mention such important people  sethtriggs  marksan  wolfbane115 and all the people from Tales de Chakona Discord for fans.

CHAPTER 1

Aldorah Krim, the Federation lieutenant of the Rakshani species involved in the skunktaur kidnapping gang operating in Chakona, was stripped of her rank and sentenced by a federal court to twenty years in prison for her crimes. However, thanks to the intercession of some of her colleagues, and especially old Bram Skunktaur during the oral trial, the sentence was commuted to forced work for the federation, as a pioneer explorer and test subject in the terraforming of a recently discovered distant planet called Vika-B.

Ugkar Skunktaur, who had fallen in love with her, asked the court for permission to accompany her in her sentence and stay by her side in the work that Aldorah had to do in Vika-B. After saying goodbye to all their acquaintances in Chakona, Ugkar and Aldorah, they left on board the Grenoble cruiser heading to that distant planet, never to return.

Meanwhile, in the city of Amistad, Lilethe Skunktaur, Esteban Sivem, and Doren Skunktaur continued to live together in the house of the renzar Sorah, Regth, and little Hajo. For all of them, a new stage of challenges was approaching, while day by day they built their happiness.

A couple of weeks after Ugkar's departure, Chakat Lorna and Esteban Sivem headed for Amistad Spaceport Building 111. There were a lot of people moving around at that time of the morning. The engineers would have a promising job interview in Integrated Systems of the Orion project. Lorna walked gracefully on Esteban's arm. Shi did not want to leave him alone even for a moment, due to the recent misfortunes that had befallen the boy.

"Lorna, don't you think you're overreacting to being so apprehensive of me?"

"Forget it Esteban. I won't let you go until I feel completely sure that nothing will happen to you"

"Lorna, nothing is going to happen to me"

"I also promised Lilethe that I would take good care of you"

"Hmm"

"Esteban, I don't see anything wrong with walking with you arm in arm"

"True, there is nothing wrong. I like your company Lorna. Your skin is soft and you smell delicious. But you do it out of fear, not for pleasure"

"That's where you're wrong. I like walking with you. You're a handsome man" declared the chakat with a purr in his voice.

"Heh heh... You'll make me blush"

"Well, do it heh heh" The chakat coquettishly replied, who wore a pink jacket on hir torso. As they moved around the place, they arrived at a small interior esplanade with tables, chairs and several small fast food outlets around it.

"Would you like something to eat before the interview? It's still early and I'm hungry" Lorna said looking at one of those places.

"Okay. A coffee would be fine for me" replied the human. After approaching the counter and ordering the groceries, Lorna stated:

"Okay, I'm on"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes Esteban, don't worry" and then pay with credit through hir PADD. However, the cash register didn't work.

"Please, allow me a second to solve the problem" rushed to say the Chakat local cashier. After a few minutes of waiting, Lorna and Esteban noticed that the tenant could not get the machine to work. Lorna, a little impatient with hunger, decided to intervene.

"Let me help Shir. I'm a systems engineer"

"Oh really? I'd appreciate it" answered the chakat, a showy specimen with light brown fur. Lorna checked the system and concluded that it needed a software update. After performing the installation operation, shi tried to get the device working. But this one failed again.

"Damn!"

"Perhaps the problem is not the software, but the hardware" Esteban commented.

"The gentleman is right" Suddenly said a huge chakat with bluish fur and dark hair, who was behind them, waiting to pay as well.

"It's probably a problem with the chip. These machines usually have this kind of failure. If I may..." Shi added as shi made hir way to examine the device. Lorna and Esteban looked at each other with a shrug. The cashier chakat was relieved to receive so much help.

"I appreciate it, Shir" shi declared.

"Hmm... let's see. You guys updated the software, right?" asked the newcomer.

The chakat suddenly began to take a closer look at the device with one of hir eyes.

"Oh, thanks so much for the help!" The local cashier chakat said happily. "You have saved me from a big problem. Please you three ask for what you want. The house invites" They all looked surprised. Lorna and Esteban nodded and went to sit around one of the tables.

"Why don't you join us for a snack?" Lorna said friendly to the blue-furred chakat. Shi, after hesitating a moment, finally agreed and sat down with them. The chakat was large. Esteban reminded him of Barelius, Lorna's father because of hir big size. Shi had varying shades of blue to hir skin, complemented by white on hir chest, which extended across hir belly and underside of hir tail. On hir back, the white fur formed a striking sapphire-shaped stain.

"I am Chakat Lorna and he is Esteban Melinao"

"Esteban Sivem" corrected the boy. "Nice to meet you"

"The pleasure is mine. I am Chakat Cyfur"

"Delighted, Cyfur. It seems you know about gadgets...

"I am a computer technician in system repair"

"I see. Do you work here at the spaceport?" Esteban asked in turn.

"No, no. I work on my own for Star Corp, an IT services company that serves clients in many parts of the federation. And now I had to come to Amistad to do some work."

"Wow... You must travel a lot!" Lorna said before taking a bite of hir fish sandwich.

"Yes, I do" Cyfur replied, after taking a sip of tea and milk. The three of them continued to talk amicably for a long time, while the morning passed in the spaceport.

Sachi was waiting impatiently for Lilethe outside the head doctor's office. The skunktaur was being interviewed for a nursing position at the health center where the renzar worked. Natany had told her about Lilethe's situation and how she and she had been forced to leave her previous job at the general hospital. Sachi, who was also a nurse, offered hym the chance to work with her in her small practice. Now, she hoped that the doctors would accept hym since, precisely, they were in need of a new nurse.

After half an hour of interview, Lilethe left the office with the head doctor, a light brown chakat, smiling broadly. The chakat declared.
"Sachi, please guide Lilethe so hy can quickly adapt to our office and procedures. Hy starts working with us today. Congratulations!"

"Yay! Lilethe, What a joy! Welcome!" Sachi exclaimed giving hym a hug. "That's how I'll do it doctor, don't worry"

"Thank you Sachi. Thank you doctor for the opportunity. I will do my best" declared the skunktaur.

"Fine. Sachi, I leave hym in your hands" said the head doctor, as shi went back into hir office. Sachi then led Lilethe to the locker room, and as they walked, the renzar declared.

"I told you that you would do well. You have a very good resume"

"Thank you Sachi. I really needed the job"

"No problem. You'll feel comfortable here. Then I'll introduce you to the rest of the staff. We're not many, but we make a good team."

Reaching the locker room, Lilethe changed into a blue uniform and then escorted Sachi back to her own office, a small room beautifully decorated with brightly colored paintings and flowers. Once there, the renzar pointed.

"Eh... Lilethe... And how is Esteban?"

"He's doing very well, Sachi. He really wants to talk to you and personally thank you for the beautiful gift you gave him."

"Heh heh... I'm glad him liked it"

"He is fascinated by that pendant. He says it makes a lot of sense to him. Tell me, Sachi, how did you choose something so special?"

"Uh? Honestly, I didn't really think about it much. Since he's from Earth and now in Chakona, I found it appropriate for him. It was a casual thing, Lilethe."

"I see... Esteban says it's a sign from the universe, telling him that he still has to do something important"

"I don't know about those things. But he really appreciated the symbolism of it... Right now, he too is about to go into his first job interview at Chakona. He was really nervous this morning. I hope everything goes well." Lilethe sighed.

"Calm down. He'll be fine. He's such a lovely boy, if I may say so. You're lucky."

"You see, I've had many partners since I left my parents' house in Grom, but none of them have completely conquered me. I'm still waiting for that special someone. Our species is not like you. We don't usually form clans or groups"

"I understand. It's similar to human love, I guess"

"I think so. We are similar."

"And have you had human partners?" Lilethe inquired curiously.

"Yeah. Being small, I'm more compatible with them. At least they're not as scared of me as an average sized renzar. Heh heh heh. But my experience with them hasn't been good."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Sachi."

"The last human I was with was a handsome man, I must admit, but he was abusive. He didn't love me. He was only thinking of his own emotional well-being. I had to get away from him before it was too late. It hurt, but I'm a fight hard. Fighting sport has not only given me physical strength, but also mental strength, you know?"

"I can understand. I hope you are better"

"I am. Don't worry Lilethe. That was a couple of years ago" Sachi replied with a giggle.

"I'm glad. Love is complicated sometimes, I guess. While skunktaurs are born with a developed empathy like chakats, I lost mine a bit, when my parents died. I became very apprehensive of the people around me"

"Oh. I'm sorry to hear that Lilethe. And of course, it's understandable. And tell me, how did you meet Esteban?"

"A little over a year ago, I lived in Berdoovia, with a clan of two other skunktaurs, Ugkar and Doren. When my parents died, I felt very lonely. We need the company of others of our kind to remain mentally stable. "So, overcome with grief, I instinctively sought refuge with a new family. That's how I met them. Doren was a skunktaur who had fallen out with hir parents and left home, with no clear future. And Ugkar, was a lovely guy, but with a certain bitterness in his heart. Hy was a radical activist, and little by little, hy got me involved in hir ideology of hate. And since I was still vulnerable, I got carried away. But after two years, I decided that those was enough and I made up my mind to get away from them”

"Oh... Lilethe..." Sachi said excitedly, giving the skunktaur a spontaneous hug.

"Oops! I'm sorry. I'm just good at giving hugs"

"It's okay Sachi. I like hugs. Thanks." Lilethe replied smiling, then continued speaking.

"Well, at that time, I got a call from Rena, Vroeg's daughter, an old skunktaur who knew my parents. Hy had recently died, and as was tradition, hy left a personal message for each member of hir family. I didn't I knew them, and I had only vague memories of Vroeg, when I was a cub. I made up my mind and traveled to Amistad. Rena handed me a paper envelope. And inside it, apart from my message, was a smaller envelope that said Esteban Melinao.

"Wow" Sachi exclaimed in amazement.

"I asked who he was, and Rena told me that he was a human known to hir father, but I didn't know how to locate him. Since Esteban's envelope was inside mine, Rena and I assumed that Vroeg wanted me to deliver it to him myself. The only thing we knew was that the boy used to jog on Topacio beach. Since I didn't want to return to Berdoovia so soon, due to my toxic relationship with the clan, I decided to stay with Rena for a few days and wait for the boy to show up. When I was about to leave Amistad, he finally appear.

"And there you saw him for the first time!"

"Yes! Believe me, humans had never attracted my attention. On the contrary, hearing Ugkar speak ill of them for so long, I became distrustful. But when I saw him, he seemed to me a very shy, and tender boy. He blushed easily. After reading Vroeg's message, he invited me to lunch. I accepted and we became friends. We talked every day. That's when my mental bond with him began to spontaneously arise. I've never had this happen to anyone, not even another skunktaur.

"Wow, that must have been wonderful"

"Yes, it is. That's when I knew that Esteban would be someone important in my life. I think Vroeg knew it, in a way. That's why hy arranged everything so that he and I met."

"Oh... You skunktaurs are really amazing" Sachi commented enthusiastically.

"Perhaps. But, I was very afraid of what Ugkar would think when I returned to Berdoovia. Hy deeply hated humans and would not accept me being mated with one of them. So I tried to hide my relationship with Esteban, until I could stay away from the clan for good. But everything got complicated when he and his father, Regthar, came looking for me. Ugkar almost killed him, mentally manipulating Regthar to hurt him. It still gives me chills to remember. It was horrible."

"Yes, Natany told me what happened. Also, it was on TV. But finally, the members of your old clan were sentenced to prison, right?" Sachy said.

"Yes. It was crazy. Ugkar was at his worst, and Doren, foolishly never questioned anything. They were both imprisoned. I felt bad for them. But, Esteban…" Lilethe paused, as hy looked at Sachi with moist eyes.

"Esteban forgave them both. He asked the government for their release. Because he discovered that Ugkar was a lost son of Vroeg"

"What! Is this Ugkar the son of Vroeg?" Sachi exclaimed in amazement.

"Yes. I was very angry with Ugkar and Doren for what they had done. But Esteban forgave them and from that moment, Ugkar began to change..."

"By Grom Lilethe! Forgiveness is not an easy thing to do. I always knew there was something special about that human. And I understand very well why Natany considers him her lucky charm"

"Heh heh... Yes. At first I was jealous of Natany. But then I understood that true love cannot be selfish. He was happy surrounded by so many people who loved him, after living much of his life in the loneliness and abandonment. Esteban won everyone's hearts, with his example and his perseverance. And I fell in love with him even more. His generosity reached such a point that he allowed Doren to return to my life. Hy has changed a lot thanks I can say the same about Ugkar. Hy left hir hatred behind and they loved each other like brothers in the end."

"Oh Lilethe. This is all so wonderful. I think I would fall in love with someone like that too... With your permission, of course." Sachi said with a sigh.

"Heh heh. Sachi. It makes me very happy that Esteban has friends like you, who love him. That way, life compensates him for having suffered a horrible childhood on Earth. I'm sure he likes you a lot"

"Huh? Really?" She said the renzar blushing.

"Yes. Don't forget that he and I are connected heh heh. With that symbolic earring you gave him, you definitely won his heart" Lilethe concluded. After those words, both nurses looked at each other to burst out laughing simultaneously.

"Come Lilethe. We'd better get to work" Said the renzar with a smile in her heart. Sachi was happy to have someone like Lilethe working alongside her.
