I'd like you guys to meet Maya Athenon. Maya is a part of a trio of alien characters I've been working on since 2020 and I believe Maya was the first. The best way to talk about her is just to jump right into the lore. Buckle up, this is going to be a longer one:
So who is Maya Athenon?:
- Maya is part of a species of warm-blooded, humanoid reptiles called "Reptithals."
- She hails from a planet called Atlangea. Atlangea is on the opposite side of the Milky Way Galaxy from Earth. It is a terrestrial, Permian-like planet.
- Maya is here on Earth to "experiment" on human guys, in secret. Her adopted brother, Iden Athenon, is also here on Earth (in secret).
Personality-wise, Maya is an easy-going goofball. While creative and resourceful, she can be a bit stubborn at times. Being bored on her home planet, she decided she would go out and explore the galaxy. Growing up, she was not wealthy, but her family got by. By adulthood, her family was loaded and she was able to do all sorts of things back home. She was able to become the equivalent of modestly sized internet personality on her planet, but she was growing bored of that. Given that Atlangea was in a time of peace, it made her wonder what other planets were like. What were they going through? After purchasing a capable enough, small spaceship, she set out into parts unknown... and by parts unknown, we mean the Milky Way Galaxy. Discovering Earth was bizarre. She had heard that this planet was off limits due to being excessively primitive, but she did not believe the primitive part... boy, was she wrong. She had heard that Earth was a chaotic planet that had constant weather disasters and super volcano eruptions out the ass. She expected the residents to be the hardiest brawlers, this side of the Milky Way. What she got was a vain, arrogant species, immensely weaker than the Reptithals that did nothing but war with each other. Naturally she decided to see what the males of the species were like.
Now what about all that stuff I just described?
Let's talk about Atlangea:
- Like I said earlier, Atlangea is a Permian-like, terrestrial planet. It has a stable, yellow sun and resides inside the habitable zone of its solar system.
- Atlangea got lucky and never had a flood volcanism eruption like what Earth experienced with the Siberian Traps that ended the Permian era. As a matter of fact, Atlangea really hasn't had any super volcano eruptions. That's not to say they don't have volcanic eruptions from time to time. When comparing Earth and Atlangea, Earth is considered a dynamic planet while Atlangea is considered a stable planet.
- As of 2024, Atlangea has an atmosphere consisting of 28% oxygen.
- The majority of life on Atlangea is either reptiles or insects. Mammals do exist on the planet.
- Atlangea's climate is very similar to Earth's.
The history of Atlangea (in brief):
- Atlangea has a very similar timeline to Earth.
- During Atlangea's Permian era (300 MYA), the predecessors to the Reptithals and a species called the Buginoids roamed the planet. The ancient Buginoids where carnivorous, locusts-like insects. They hunted the ancient Reptithals, who were semi-quadrupedal herbivores. Things were stable until an anomaly in space and time sent a population of Neanderthals (Homo Neanderthalensis) (from earth) to Atlangea.
- Fortunately for the Neanderthals, the anomaly seemed to adjust their bodies to survive the increased oxygen. Regardless, they would still migrate to mountain based regions. The Neanderthals would begin hunting Reptithals and Buginoids, putting them in danger.
- Over the millions of years, Reptithals and Buginoids would begin to adapt and evolve. Both species would become omnivorous to help adapt to their new roles, that being working together against the Neanderthals. Both species would become bipedal and humanoid. Reptithals gained the ability to regulate their strength. Buginoids used to use their antennae to confuse their prey and mucus to subdue them. The Reptithals were adapting to these already, so these abilities were repurposed for the Neanderthals.
- Over the millions of years, Reptithals and Buginoids would begin to adapt and evolve. Both species would become omnivorous to help adapt to their new roles, that being working together against the Neanderthals. Both species would become bipedal and humanoid. Reptithals gained the ability to regulate their strength. Buginoids used to use their antennae to confuse their prey and mucus to subdue them. The Reptithals were adapting to these already, so these abilities were repurposed for the Neanderthals.
- Over the eons, two species would fight off their invaders and survive. At around 300,000 BCE, the modern Reptithals and Buginoids would emerge. They would also name the Neanderthals the Rock-Hunters. This was because they used rocks as weapons for the longest time. The Rock-Hunters would also develop somewhat, but they did not change all that much. By this time, the Reptithals and Buginoids were starting to get along with the Rock-Hunters.
- Around 10,000 BCE, the Rock-Hunters would stop hunting the Reptithals and the Buginoids... mostly because they were starting to lose to the latter two species.
- Around 5,000 BCE, the bronze age begins. This is followed by the Iron age at 2,000 BCE.
- 0 BCE was a momentous year as the three species finally came together in friendship and unity.
- 1,500 CE was the start of the rubber age. The Reptithals figured out how to cultivate rubber trees en masse. This averted and stopped the plastic age as a whole.
- 1,600 CE was the beginning of the space era. By 1,700 CE, Atlangea had made it to their moon.
- By 1,800 CE, the Atlangeans had discovered how to make use of Anti-Matter to power their technology. This would pave the way for all sorts of discoveries.
- And by 1,900 CE, the Atlangeans finally figured out how to shortcut through a realm called "Hell" to circumvent the expansion of the universe. Interestingly the first planet they discovered through space travel was actually a planet from Hell called "Infernal Terra." This allowed them to find out about Earth back in the third dimension.
About the Atlangeans:
- Rock-Hunters are currently deemed a threatened species, due to their past with the Reptithals and the Buginoids. Atlangea is also a harsh planet to them. The Rock-Hunters are not coddled, but they are given a bit more help from time to time.
- Earth greatly concerns the Atlangeans as they are worried humans will try to declare war on them for ridiculous reasons.
- Atlangea is mostly a capitalist society with three leaders. These leaders are from each species and must run together as one candidate. While Atlangean society is split into groups based on species, they ultimately consider themselves 1 people. Countries do exist, but they are not that important. They're mostly just places for the three species to live together with others of their kind.
- Reptithals and Rock-Hunters are stronger than Neanderthals and Buginoids evolved to counter Neanderthals. Suffice it to say that current day humanity would not stand a chance against them.
- Atlangean folk music sounds like Power Metal from Earth. They also have some folk music that sounds like Celtic music.
A 4th Atlangean species?:
- Rumor has it that there is a 4th species, residing in the oceans of Atlangea. Long before the Permian Era, a small, rogue planet struck Atlangea. On this planet is believed to be the predecessor for an aquatic species that can live on land and in sea.
- Myths and Legends tell of these Fish-Folk coexisting with the other Atlangeans. And people swear up and down that they have met them.
- Some say that the Atlangean government are keeping this under wraps so as to not shock everyone. The 3 leaders would have to be updated to the 4 leaders and that would have all sorts of bumps in the road. Many claim that this day of change is coming, very soon.
- Fish-Folk are being sighted all over the place in recent times...
In regards to Maya:
- Maya at 10% strength (the minimum for Reptithals) rivals Olympic athletes. At 50% strength (Where Maya sits and the average for Reptithals), Maya matches the strongest strongmen on Earth. This is considered weak for a Reptithal.
- Maya is weird. The other Reptithals are not like her.
- What kind of experiments does Maya do? Latex bondage... kinky clothing... latex clothing in general. Is she into girls? Not really, but she can definitely appreciate an attractive female of any species.
- When Maya bulks up, her vents (the "lines" on her limbs) open up and let out heat. This usually sounds like a steam whistle.
- Maya has no tail and sleek scales. Reptithals can have short tails, medium length tails, and long tails. As for scales, they can be sleek, coarse, rough, spinney, or spikey.
- Typically Reptithals have either green, blue, red, yellow, or orange skin. Purple and Indigo are rare colors. Hair follows the same as skin.
- The floating tendrils are sensors that come from the head. All Reptithals have these, at varying lengths and positions.
- Female Reptithals do not have breasts, rather having a curvy figure.
- Maya's eyes are strange, but they allow her to see normally, IR, UV, and in darkness. They also allow rudimentary zooming and focusing.

Yes, that lore dump was necessary. Maya is going to be one of my core characters and is going to be relevant to future art. And yes, Iden and the other alien character will be uploaded eventually. The mystery character is technically ready to go, but Iden is lagging behind. Also yes, I could have done a bit better on this, I know.
