I really loved the concept in the last Diaper Me picture, I had to do something similar. Gordo, slightly embarrassed, asking for a husky-printed puppy-designed diaper to wear.
I don't even know where that facial expression came from, but I liked it, so I kept it. Meh.

I'm also having serious issues maintaining character consistency with my adults....

I like the things you are able to do with the subtlety of the facial expressions. It's what isn't expressed on the face, really that speaks to me here, but what is shown by the body that shows his true intent.
