Save the Vaquita, Project Two: Shape
Here is my original caption in its unaltered state: "Water soluble oil pastels applied dry.
This lineless inspired piece was created to bring awareness to the vaquita porpoise, the most endangered and rarest species of marine animal in the world. With under ten individuals left in the wild, unsustainable along with illegal fishing practices are a huge threat, and if we don't do something soon this amazing creature will be gone forever. I utilized the fact that teardrops have a similar shape to water when flowing in a downward direction, representing the symbolic emotional plight we humans have put their entire species through just for monetary gain. I accentuated the "shapes" made throughout the shadow and various values of the water most, using a limited yet defined pallette of various blues (along with white for highlighting) for a striking visual effect, using the same technique (different colors) at a lower scale on the subject in the middle (the porpoise). Using my etching tool I added extra textures throughout to help the configurations look less flat, adding a bit more depth to the viewer's eye. Thanks for viewing, I hope this inspired you to take action! :)
Note: If you'd like to find out more and ways YOU can help save this amazing species before its gone forever, please check out the resources both here and here."
My commissions are always OPEN with prices under my profile tab, notes are open for free quotes. If you would like something like the above don't hesitate to reach out, something could definitely be negotiated (for a slightly lesser price than usual due to medium experimentation). Don't forget to check out my Patreon as well for EXCLUSIVE monthly perks, along with the YCHs and other adoptables available for sale in my gallery! Every shiny donation gets a sketch as well, we really could use the help (this is my only income, I need to earn funds for food/bills/etc.)~ <3
Favorites, watches, and comments below are welcomed - thanks so much for viewing my work! I actually completed this piece last weekend, I apologize for just finding the motivation to upload it now. I hope you all enjoy, stay tuned for more! ^.=.^
