Ah, I see. :) Although more specifically I said the ugly stage was ugly. ;) The sketch was fine, but there was a point when I just had the first layer of the underpainting down before adding any additional depth to it where it looked utterly horrible. I should have taken a picture for shits and giggles, but I was panicking because I thought I ruined my painting so I kept desperately working until it wasn't ugly anymore - which was basically shortly before the painting was finished. :'D

And it is beautiful now…
