The reason I like them so much is because they're so adaptible in combat... I mean, you can stab with it like a spear, chop like a longaxe, use the hook to trip or pierce through plate armor, and if you're REAL slick with it you can catch enemy's weapons between the blade and the speartip and disarm them.
