1/2" thick, 12"x12' gloss-black granite slabs, laser etched with the art of your choice. These two demo pieces are courtesy of MissMonster - that's her Hydra design. :) The one on the left is a 'positive' image, the one on the right is 'negative'. Where the laser hits the surface it turns it rough and stone-colored, blasting away the smooth black surface. It's as tactile as it is pretty. It's also solid granite so the art will last a very, very long time. Hitting it with 60W makes a decently deep engraving into the surface.
Got art you'd like seen done in granite, marble, stone or even titanium? Let me know. :)

Very neat, Tug! You know what else would look excellent on a granite tile? The emblem, 20 seconds in, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob9J3kCELXE Elevator not included of course. (That's extra.)
It's actual rock! So rather solid/heavy, yah.
Lighter materials can be used as well as smaller pieces. At the same time, I can also carve on top of something up to 9" thick and the laser's bed can support about 400lb. This means memorial stones up to 18x24x9 are possible if needed.
I do want to see what the laser will do to pottery sometime, if you ever have any flat samples to send my way to try...

If i "cleaned this up" would it be possible to create an engraving out of it? I think it'd be gorgeous. This is really great work, man.
